Rhys Williams' Daily Horse Racing Tips: 1 Selection For Saturday

The Panel are delighted to have Rhys Williams as part of our team of racing tipsters.

Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.

He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.

His profit and loss record for the year stands at -27.37 points from 34 points staked.

Here is Rhys' tip for Saturday, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.

17:18 Chepstow: Hooj - 1.5pt Win @ 100/30

Bande Organisee and Hooj dominate the market in the bumper at Chepstow and I think there’s too much between them given the promise the latter showed in his sole start in a point.

He started his career with Dan Skelton before moving to the care of Nick Pearce to run in a maiden at Chaddesley Corbett in December.

Hooj travelled strongly throughout and was tracking the leading pair turning out of the back straight.

After a good jump at three out, he was angled to the outside to make his challenge turning in and once asked for his effort he easily quickened away and was around seven lengths in front at two out but he pitched on landing and came down.

Given the way that he had put ground between himself and the eventual winner in such a short space of time, I expect Hooj could have ended up winning by at least ten lengths and possibly fifteen such was the ease in which he did it.

The manner in which he travelled through the race and quickened suggests that a bumper could be an ideal test for him.

Although Bande Organisee ran very well on his rules debut in a bumper at this track, I’m not sure this is necessarily the ideal test for him and he looked a bit idle in front.

If Tristan Durrell can deliver Hooj with one effort late on, I think he has a good chance of making a successful start under rules now back with Skelton. Any 9/4 or bigger appeals.
