Rhys Williams' Daily Horse Racing Tips: 2 Selections For Saturday

The Panel are delighted to have Rhys Williams as part of our team of racing tipsters.
Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most and his profit and loss stands as -6.45 points from 14 points staked, with returns of 7.55 points.
Here are his tips for Saturday, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.
12:00 Punchestown: Sound As A Bell - 1pt Win @ 9/4
Sound As A Bell makes his rules debut in this maiden hurdle and I think he has a good chance of making it a successful one given the promise he showed in points.
He made his debut over 2m4f at Oldtown and caught the eye running on late having been held up and looked green when initially asked for his effort.
The second and fourth from that race, Nimba and Harry Lowes, have both since won on their rules debuts.
Sound As A Bell built on that promise to win next time when stepped up to three miles at Quakerstown.

His inexperience still showed when pushed along going to two out but he picked up well on the long run to the last to win comfortably.
The conditions today are more testing than he faced in either race but I think he should be capable of handling them and this race may not have much depth in quality. Any 2/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 1: 12:00 Punchestown - Sound As A Bell - 1pt Win
12:00 Punchestown: Take Stock - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 100/1
At a huge price in the same race, I can’t let Sound As A Bell’s stablemate Take Stock go unbacked given the promise he showed on debut in the pointing field.
He made his debut on the point track at Fairyhouse and was given a patient ride. He was tightened for room when trying to make headway on the run to two out and dropped to the back of the tightly packed field.
He was still travelling well approaching the final bend into the home straight and made some headway, despite not being given a particularly hard ride, but couldn’t sustain that effort late on and finished fifth.
The winner of that race has since won a maiden hurdle while the fourth finished second in a bumper at Navan on Monday and the faller at the last is rated 110 over hurdles in Britain.
Given that he was poorly positioned, I thought this was an encouraging start from Take Stock and he certainly showed more ability than his huge price today would suggest.
It may be that he will show his best on better ground but I can’t let him go unbacked in a race of this quality and any 25/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 2: 12:00 Punchestown - Take Stock - 0.5pts Each-Way
