Rhys Williams' Daily Horse Racing Tips: 2 Selections For Saturday

The Panel are delighted to have Rhys Williams as part of our team of racing tipsters.
Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.
His profit and loss record for 2026 stands at -15 points.
Here are Rhys' tips for Saturday, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.
13:50 Cheltenham: Escaria Ten - 0.5pt Win @ 28/1
Escaria Ten has failed to complete in his last two starts, but I think a return to the cross country sphere could bring about a return to form.
He ran very well on his first try over this course last season off a 10lb higher mark than he races off today when finishing fourth behind Stumptown.
While he failed to build on that at last season’s Festival, his chance wasn’t helped by his jockey trying to go the wrong way early on and Escaria Ten was still in front at two out before weakening.
His form has dipped since then, but he was always likely to lack the necessary speed for the Topham on his final start of last season.
Also, he ran quite well for a long way on his seasonal debut over the conventional chase track at Cheltenham in October.
The testing ground is no issue for him and it could be that the switch of headgear and return to this course will help spark this twelve-year-old up a bit.
Any 22/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 1: 13:50 Cheltenham - Escaria Ten - 0.5pt Win
13:50 Cheltenham: Miralago - 0.5pt Win @ 33/1
In the same race, I think the market is underestimating the chance of Miralago on his first try over this course.
Horses who are either trained in France or who were previously trained in France often take well to this course and hopefully Miralago will be another one of those having started his career with Daniela Mele.
He achieved a similar level of form in France to his former stablemate J’arrive de l’Est, who heads the market for today’s race, and Miralago hasn’t run too badly in three starts since joining Georgina Nicholls.
While the testing ground will be no problem for Miralago, there is a slight concern over whether he will see out this trip and he goes without the headgear that he’s worn in the past.
There has been a bit of early market support for him but I think he’s still overpriced given the potential for improvement now faced with this unique jumping test.
Any 22/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 2: 13:50 Cheltenham - Miralago - 0.5pt Win
All odds correct at time of publish.
