Rhys Williams' Daily Horse Racing Tips: 2 Selections For Saturday

The Panel are delighted to have Rhys Williams as part of our team of racing tipsters.

Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.

He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.

His profit and loss stands as +6.05 points from 18.5 points staked, with returns of 24.55 points, thanks to tipping 33/1 shot Arctic Steps on Friday

Here is Rhys' tips for Saturday, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.

11:36 Fairyhouse: Meet And Greet - 0.5pt Each-Way @ 66/1

Supreme Jet has outperformed market expectations in beginners chases this season for Oliver McKiernan and I think Meet And Greet has the potential to do likewise in this opening race at Fairyhouse.

He was the third highest rated of the field over hurdles and after missing the 2023/24 season, showed that he still retains ability when winning at Limerick and running well over a distance shorter than ideal for him at Leopardstown.

He was a bit disappointing even allowing for the company in the Stayers Hurdle at Punchestown when last seen and he may not be the easiest to keep sound.

However, that may also mean that they are going to have him spot on for every race because they don’t know how many chances they will get with him so that could see him ridden quite handily today.

There is the obvious unknown over how he will jump on chasing debut but he physically looks the type who can take to it.

I think the market is overlooking his chance a little. Any 33/1 or bigger appeals.

Rhys' Selection 1: 11:36 Fairyhouse - Meet And Greet - 0.5pt Each-Way

14:15 Newbury: Viyanni - 1pt Each-Way @ 5/1

I thought Viyanni was set to have a big chance if turning up for the Fred Winter last season off 124.

That didn’t happen but he now gets the chance to show he’s better than that rating in the Gerry Feilden and I think he has a good chance of making it three from four over hurdles.

He beat a decent horse in Narragansett on hurdling debut at Market Rasen before coming up against a very difficult task at Ascot when taking on Lulamba and giving 6lb to Mondo Man.

I thought Viyanni ran very creditably in the circumstances and I think the quality of that performance was above both the rating he received afterwards and the rating he’s now on.

Viyanni ended his season with a victory at Ludlow, a track that I’m not sure suited him.

I think Newbury will be more to his liking and while this is the softest ground that he will have raced on I think that will be no issue for him either.

He looked the type last season who would develop further with time rather than just being a juvenile hurdler and he’s likely to be well positioned from the off in this.

Any 4/1 or bigger appeals.

Rhys' Selection 2: 14:15 Newbury - Viyanni - 1pt Each-Way
