14:22 Southwell: Escort'kheops - 1pt Each-Way @ 10/1
Escort’kheops was no match for Crackerjacque at Fontwell on his hurdling debut, but that was a good run and I think he has a better chance of going one place better than the market suggests in this maiden hurdle.
Having shown promise in the pointing field, he ran well for a long way on his seasonal debut in a bumper at Cheltenham when beaten just over 10 lengths.
He was ridden prominently on his hurdling debut at Fontwell, which is an encouraging sign that such tactics may be repeated today.
However, he was racing on the inside of the hurdles track for much of the race, which usually isn’t the place to be when there’s any cut in the ground at Fontwell.
He couldn’t go with Crackerjacque early in the home straight and still showed a little greenness approaching the last, but battled on well to finish second.

The winner had shown a good level of ability in bumpers, while the third has shown fair form in that sphere and they pulled a long way clear of the rest.
While I think Escort’kheops may ideally want a bit further, the added distance will at least help his cause on that front.
Once again it may be able to make the running but possibly with less pressure than was the case at Fontwell. Any 7/1 or bigger appeals.
