12:15 Hereford: Montemares - 1pt Win @ 3/1
Marsiac showed plenty of toughness to win at Aintree on his second start under rules and the switch to a right-handed track is likely to suit him.
However, I think he could face a strong challenge from Montemares given the potential for improvement from his debut victory over course and distance.
Montemares had been expected to run in a British point for this yard last season and had a big reputation prior to his anticipated debut, but he missed that race and ended up staying in the yard to go under rules.
Judging by the early market when he made his debut earlier this month, that reputation was still there and he justified those expectations with a 13-length victory despite looking clueless and losing ground at most of the hurdles.
That was a fairly weak race and he faces a much tougher rival today in Marsiac.

However, he has the potential to take a big step forward from the bare level that he ran to that day considering the clear inexperience that he showed.
It may be that he’s still too green to show his full ability at this stage and that will come out further down the line.
I think there’s too much between the front pair in the market and any 9/4 or bigger appeals.
