12:53 Newbury: Spanish Dancer - 0.5pt Win (Without The Favourite) @ 18/1
Kadastral is a very short priced favourite for this maiden hurdle.
Rather than trying to take him on, I think there’s an appealing option in the without the favourite market.
Spanish Dancer is making his hurdling debut after two starts in bumpers and he showed some promise in the first of those at Chepstow.
He was clearly green and I’m not sure the undulations of the track suited him but he kept responding to pressure to finish fourth.
He was disappointing last time at Ffos Las, but he looked nearly unrideable in the home straight with how much he was hanging right.
He was found to have an abscess after so it’s easy to excuse that performance.

Given his stature, he’s an obvious chasing type of the future, and it may be that today will be more about educating him with the long term in mind.
However, I think he has the ability to be more competitive than the market suggests and any further rain will help his cause.
