Rhys Williams' Daily Horse Racing Tips: 2 Selections For Saturday

Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.
His profit and loss record for 2026 stands at -10.5 points.
Here are Rhys' tips for Saturday, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.
15:50 Taunton: Holkham Hall - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 28/1
Ted The Thief is understandably strong at the head of the market for this handicap chase but there’s another ex-British pointer who appeals at a much bigger price.
When at his best in the pointing field, Holkham Hall showed a level of ability that suggests he can be better than his rating of 76.
He was slow to get into form last season so it could be that the same will apply this season and he needed the run on his return to racing under rules at Wincanton.
He was dropped out at the back of the field that day and could never get into contention in a race where it was beneficial to race prominently.
While it may be that it will be later in the season that Holkham Hall is able to show his true ability, I think he has the potential to run well in a race of this quality on his second start over fences under rules.
The likely good pace should also help his cause and any 16/1 or bigger appeals.

16:20 Taunton: Cotton End - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 50/1
The market has found the obvious pair in this closing handicap hurdle but there’s one at a big price who I think the market could be underestimating.
Cotton End finished well beaten at Ludlow last time but there are reasons to think she can run better than she did that day.
She was ridden by a very inexperienced rider that day who initially held her up at the back of the field before Cotton End pulled her way to the front.
She managed to remain there until three out after which she faded away to finish fourth.
She was racing from 6lb out of the handicap that day and has been dropped another 2lb for that so is effectively off an 8lb lower mark today.
She also has more experienced handling with Tabitha Worsley taking over in the saddle and it may be that the application of a tongue tie for the second time can see Cotton End not be as weak in the closing stages as she was last time.
It may be that she is vulnerable to much younger legs but she showed in points last season that she still retains some ability and she has a better chance of providing a winner for Cornwall’s finest than the big price suggests.
Any 25/1 or bigger appeals.
