Rhys Williams' Daily Horse Racing Tips: 6 Selections For Wednesday

The Panel are delighted to have Rhys Williams as part of our team of racing tipsters.
Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.
His profit and loss stands at -1.45 points from 29.0 points staked, with returns of 27.55 points.
Here is Rhys' tips for Saturday, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.
12:35 Hereford: Las Canals - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 40/1
Las Canals makes his British debut in the opening maiden hurdle at Hereford and I think the market is underestimating his chance given the promise he showed in two starts in France.
He won on his debut in an AQPS flat race before being switched to hurdling at Compiegne and given a very patient ride, he still only had two horses behind him turning into the home straight.
His jockey only started to gently shake him along after jumping two out and Las Canals jumped the last in sixth, before finishing strongly while only being ridden hands and heels to finish third.
He isn’t up against anything with Coeur d’Amour’s quality in this and I think the switch to a right-handed track will be more suitable for him, given his tendency to edge right at some of the hurdles at Compiegne.
It might be that he needs the run after over a year off and being ridden with similar tactics wouldn’t be ideal around Hereford, but I think he’s overpriced given his talent and any 16/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 1: 12:35 Hereford - Las Canals - 0.5pts Each-Way
12:35 Hereford: Wolf Walker - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 50/1
Wolf Walker is another coming off a long break, who appeals in this race at a big price after showing plenty of ability in points.
He started his career in Ireland before being bought to join Chris Barber and he bolted up on his first start for the yard at Larkhill over 2m4f.
He put up another couple of smart performances over three miles at the same track, but the combination of a switch to a left-handed track and the longer trip proved against Wolf Walker in the Intermediate Final so it’s easy to forgive that run.
This track will be more suitable for him and while this is the sharpest test that he’s faced so far, the way that he travelled in points suggests he has a chance of coping with it.
There is a worry that he will be too keen on his return from the break and the trainer switch isn’t ideal but he’s too big given the ability he’s shown and any 20/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 2: 12:35 Hereford - Wolf Walker - 0.5pts Each-Way

14:25 Hexham: West Lawn - 0.5pt Win @ 25/1
West Lawn has been beaten over 20 lengths in three starts over fences this season, but I think the return to hurdling and application of headgear could see her in a better light this afternoon at Hexham.
Her jumping has been an issue over fences and I thought she’s looked quite awkward under pressure at times.
Hopefully the switch to smaller obstacles can see her jump better and the headgear will result in her finding more under pressure.
While West Lawn hasn’t run on any ground quite this testing, I think she should be capable of handling it and any 16/1 or bigger appeals.
14:55 Hexham: Walking On A Dream - 0.5pt Win @ 14/1
Truckers Cruising might be too good for these under a penalty, but I think Walking On A Dream could be more of a danger than the market suggests now up to a more suitable trip.
He was outpaced pretty much from the off over two miles at Ayr on his chasing debut last time and kept plugging away to finish 20 lengths behind the winner.
He also looked short of the necessary speed for that trip over hurdles last season and his performances in points suggest this will at least be a more suitable trip for him with the ground also being no issue having handled deep ground in points.
There is a concern that he’s just a bit lazy and might need some headway to sharpen him up, but I think he’s overpriced given the potential for improvement over this trip and any double-figure prices appeal.
Rhys' Selection 4: 14:55 Hexham - Walking On A Dream - 0.5pt Win
17:15 Dundalk: Blissful Bonita 0.5pts Each-Way @ 16/1
Blissful Bonita shaped with some promise on her debut at Thurles in October and I think she’s overpriced on her return to action this evening at Dundalk.
She was green coming out of the stalls at Thurles and had to be shaken along before racing on the inside in midfield.
Her inexperience showed when she was first asked for her effort turning into the home straight and the front four got away from her, but she stayed on well once getting the idea of what was required to finish fifth.
I’m expecting Blissful Bonita to be sharper for that experience and I think this track will be more suitable for her than Thurles.
This isn’t a particularly strong maiden and if she builds on that debut as expected then I think she has a better chance of being competitive than the market suggests. Any double-figure prices appeal.
Rhys' Selection 5: 15:15 Dundalk - Blissful Bonita - 0.5pts Each-Way
18:45 Dundalk: Kayamite 0.5pt Win @ 40/1
Kayamite’s three runs in maidens were all at Dundalk and I think she’s overpriced on her return to this track in the closing race.
She showed some promise in those races against tougher opposition than she faces tonight, with two of those runs coming over this trip.
She’s since been campaigned over shorter trips on turf and hasn’t built on those runs but she put in an eye-catching performance over six furlongs at Navan last time under a very inexperienced rider.
She was slowly into stride and was soon a long way off the leader in last place. She was still in last with two furlongs to go before being switched to the far rail and running on well to finish ninth.
Kayamite has a more experienced jockey in the saddle tonight and I think the combination of that and a return to a longer trip at this track can see her in a better light. Any 20/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 6: 18:45 Dundalk - Kayamite - 0.5pt Win
