Sports Betting Now Legal In Missouri; Here's What You Need To Know

At midnight on Dec. 1, legal sports betting began in Missouri.
Starting on that day, bettors in Missouri who are at least 21 years old could begin wagering on professional and college sporting events with the use of a cellphone or computer anywhere in the state. Bettors also can wager in person at brick-and-mortar sportsbooks. (For a list, click here.)
Bettors do not have to be Missouri residents but must be in the state to place a wager.
The Dec. 1 start of sports betting allows people to wager on the remaining schedules of local favorites, including the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Blues. (See games below.)
Also on Dec. 1, bettors can wager on the Monday Night Football game featuring the visiting New York Giants at the New England Patriots.
Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Blues Games
Here are the Kansas City Chiefs' regular-season games available to bettors after legal sports wagering began Dec. 1.
- Week 14 12/7 vs. Houston Texans 8:20 pm NBC (SNF)
- Week 15 12/14 vs. Los Angeles Chargers 1 p.m. CBS
- Week 16 12/21 at Tennessee Titans 1 p.m. CBS
- Week 17 12/25 vs. Denver Broncos 8:15 p.m. Prime Video (TNF)
- Week 18 1/4/ at Las Vegas Raiders TBD TBD
On Dec. 1, Missouri’s NHL team, the St. Louis Blues, will host the Anaheim Ducks at the Enterprise Center.
The Blues then embark on a three-game road trip before returning home to host the Boston Bruins on Dec. 9.
Where You Can Bet
Missouri is home to 13 riverboat casinos. The following four casinos in the St. Louis area are allowing in-person sports betting beginning Monday:
- Caesars Sportsbook at Horseshoe St. Louis
- Fanatics Sportsbook at Ameristar Casino in St. Charles
- Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights
- River City Casino in south St. Louis County
Missouri's six professional sports teams can operate a sportsbook within 400 yards of where they play home games. The following partnerships have been established so far:

Former NFL Players' First Bets
Caesars Sportsbook has joined with former Chiefs running back Christian Okoye and former Los Angeles Rams and Chiefs quarterback Trent Green for ceremonial first bets.
These events were set for Monday morning, Dec. 1. Okoye was scheduled to place a ceremonial first bet at Harrah’s Kansas City. Green's ceremonial first bet was set for a Monday wager at Horseshoe St. Louis. From there, Green planned to leave for Kansas City to place a bet there.

Missouri Sports Betting Timeline
Below are key dates in the launch of legal sports betting in Missouri.
- Nov. 5, 2024: Missouri voters approve legal sports betting statewide.
- Feb. 2025: Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins rejects the Missouri Gaming Commission's proposed emergency sports wagering rules, which would have launched sports betting as early as June 2025.
- May 15: Sports betting application window opens.
- July 15: Applications for direct mobile licenses are due.
- Aug. 13: Direct mobile license applicants can present their cases to the Missouri Gaming Commission.
- Aug. 15: The commission announces direct mobile license holders.
- Aug. 30: Licensing rules are scheduled to become effective.
- Sept. 12: All other retail and mobile license applications are due.
- Sept. 15: Sports wagering supplier license applications are due to qualify for a temporary license before Dec. 1.
- Oct. 22: Temporary licenses issued.
- Nov. 17: Bettors can deposit funds in online accounts.
- Dec. 1: Legal sports betting begins.
