Kansas still boasts a great variety of remarkable college and professional sports teams with a great success rate in a number of championships. Below, we take a look at some of the Kansas teams you can bet your money on.
With four Super Bowls —IV (1970), LIV (2020), LVII (2023), and LVIII (2024)—to their names, the Kansas City Chiefs are one of the best teams in the NFL in recent history. The fact that the team is located on Missouri's side of the border does not prevent most Kansans from rooting for the Chiefs.
Kansas State University has 16 varsity teams, representing the Kansas State Wildcats. Even though several teams represent the University in different sports, their basketball and football lineups are among the most popular.
The University of Kansas has produced an impressive lineup of 16 varsity teams in various sports. These teams represent themselves as the Kansas Jayhawks, with NCAA basketball at the top of the pyramid.
The athletic teams representing Wichita State University are known as the Wichita State Shockers. The Shockers have a solid basketball team that is a perennial March Madness contender. In 2013–14, the Shockers became the first Division I basketball team to enter the NCAA tournament unbeaten in over twenty years.
The Kansas City Royals are based in Missouri, like the Chiefs and the MLB team. Since their foundation in 1969, the Royals have secured two World Series titles—in 1985 and 2015. After struggling for the past few seasons, the City Royals are back in the game and stronger than ever.
Sporting Kansas City is the only professional sports team to land on Kansas City's side of the border. Since its creation in 1996, the franchise has claimed two MLS Cups and four US Open Cup titles. Sporting KC has shown impressive performance in the past few seasons, finishing top of the West on two occasions.
Based in Kansas City, Kansas Speedway is a premier 1.5-mile tri-oval race track that was built in 2001 and hosts two annual NASCAR Cup Series races: the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR XFINITY Series.
Owned and operated by NASCAR since 2011, the speedway hosts a variety of NASCAR and other racing events, including the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series. Twice a year, some of the best drivers in the world visit Kansas Speedway and race among fans from across the country.
The Heartland Motorsport Park, also known as the House of Speed, hosts the National Hot Rod Association Drag Race Tournaments. Here, the winner of each event receives a special-edition pewter Wally trophy, which is considered the most valuable award in drag racing.
Placing sports bets on horse racing has been legal in Kansas City since 1986, but the last live horse racing event occurred in 2008. Because of its waning popularity and strict tax regulations, no horse racing tracks operate in the state. The Kansas betting laws do not restrict players from online horse betting.
Kansas City's sports betting legislation has authorized residents to play daily fantasy sports contests since 2015. This means that Daily Fantasy online providers can offer games to customers from Kansas with no legal risks. In this betting genre, the Big Four and college sports are highly sought-after.
With the launch of legal Kansas sportsbooks, residents of the state have access to retail and mobile sports wagering. The sheer convenience of mobile USA betting apps makes them a favorable option for iOS and Android users who prefer to gamble on the go instead of being restricted to a desktop or a retail location.
It's important that you adhere to the rules of responsible gambling. If you develop unhealthy gambling habits, it's highly advised that you take a break from betting and seek professional help.
