It’s important to note that, at least until further notice, online sports betting in Louisiana will only be available in the parishes that voted for it in the 2020 referendum—55 out of 64.

There’s so much to love about DraftKings, but what stood out for us is the prop betting markets. If you’re a fan of prop bets, DraftKings is the place you need to wager at, specifically for single-player props.
Not only are there endless amounts of markets available, but the number of players from each team that have betting markets available goes far beyond what you’ll find at other Louisiana betting apps. While generally offering competitive odds, our reviews found that it lags behind other sites for specific outcomes.
In addition to these, DraftKings Louisiana offers several unique features, including live streams, early cashouts, statistics, DK Social, and "MyBet" account activity tracking.

bet365 offers extensive sports coverage in Louisiana, along with unique features such as bet editing, an intuitive parlay builder, and exclusive odds boosts.
The overall design of the site and the betting app might be a bit too bland for some, but the offerings and features here make it stand out. Although some users criticize the app's design and layout, we found the live-streaming integration to be seamless and effective. In fact, some of bet365's best features are in its live betting and streaming.
Where it stands out amongst the pack, though, are the existing player promotions. You can earn parlay boosts and early cashouts across various sports, including soccer, baseball, basketball, hockey, and more.

BetMGM isn’t perfect, but it certainly has some of the best sportsbook features. What really separates BetMGM from other Louisiana betting sites is the one-touch bet function, Easy Parlay, early cashouts, and Edit My Bet. During our review, we also noted a nice variety of bet types with a focus on NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and international sports.
This does affect the odds; BetMGM has competitive odds but doesn’t always have the best lines, so BetMGM is neither significantly ahead nor behind its competitors.
However, with features like Easy Parlay, live streaming, and bet editing available, this is a minor criticism.

The app consistently receives high praise for its sleek design and dynamic graphics, providing an exceptional gaming experience. Its intuitive interface ensures easy navigation, making it a top choice for both new and experienced bettors.
Fanatics offers extensive coverage of sports in Louisiana. It is an excellent choice for football fans, offering impressive parlay builders for significant events and a wide range of betting markets. It provides numerous ways to enhance game-day wagering, including exclusive odds boosts.

Caesars Sportsbook is one of those sportsbooks that does everything well, but one way it stands out from the rest is its odds boosts. Caesars Sportsbook really takes it to a whole new level with the number of options it provides daily.
Generally, Caesars Louisiana offers competitive odds, particularly for favorites. However, it may not be as strong for those who prefer betting on underdogs. So odds boosts can really come in handy.
Other features include NFL live streaming, one-touch tabs designed for speed, and a tipping hub offering game previews, statistics, and expert betting tips.

Gambling.com is a highly regarded resource for Louisiana sports betting platforms. Our team has been covering sports betting since 2018, and over that time, we've reviewed betting apps hundreds of times across multiple states.
When we rank online betting sites, we only list those that are legal and licensed in Louisiana.
Having a regulator's stamp of approval means the site you're looking at has been vetted and complies with the strictest regulations to ensure your safety. This includes keeping player funds separate, ensuring that payouts are guaranteed, regardless of what happens to the company itself.
The Louisiana Gaming Control Board issues licenses to sports betting apps in the state. This process involves accepting applications, reviewing them, evaluating the sportsbook, issuing licenses, and overseeing and holding sportsbooks to the standards set by the state.
We trust the Louisiana Gaming Control Board’s process and procedures for licensing sportsbooks, and we look for additional features, such as two-factor authentication.
"When we open an app for the first time, we want to easily see registration and log-in, promotions, customer support, betting markets, and where to deposit."
To review sportsbooks, we thoroughly check all Louisiana options before calculating our scores. We review everything from betting options and banking methods to in-play markets and customer support.
Then, we give sportsbooks a rating out of 10 after grading them on 10 key trust factors, which include:
We look for sports betting apps that offer deep betting markets, particularly those for Louisiana's in-state teams.
How good are sportsbook promos in reality? We take promotions seriously and conduct the necessary groundwork to investigate the terms and conditions thoroughly.
Claiming your winnings is essential for Louisiana's top sports betting sites. Cash-outs should be processed immediately, and there should be no fees for withdrawing money. Similarly, we ensure that depositing in your sportsbook account is seamless and instant, as it should be.
It’s important to get help if something goes wrong. Good online sportsbooks will be available to assist new sports bettors, offering various customer service options, including live chat, email, or phone. You’ll also have access to a Help Center that provides advice on a range of topics.
Real-player reviews can sometimes be hyperbolic, but if there are numerous reviews with a consistent message, it’s something we don’t overlook.
We're looking to see what other sportsbooks offer features like this beyond the standard ones that all sports betting apps typically provide nowadays.
Licensed, regulated, and legal sportsbooks guarantee the safety of your money and personal information. They also encourage responsible gambling. All licensed Louisiana sportsbooks are accountable to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, so you know they must be fair to you and your fellow users.
Live betting, also known as in-play betting, is essential at US sportsbooks, and Louisiana is no different. You should be able to bet as games are happening and odds change in real-time. We check the full list of in-play markets and sports at all Louisiana sports betting sites.
LA sports betting sites will offer comparable prices across the moneyline, spread, and totals markets, but we look at which sportsbooks' odds stand out.

Senate Bill 247 (the Sports Wagering Act) established the Louisiana Gaming Control Board as the regulating authority for all sports betting. It was already overseeing riverboat and land-based casinos. You can bet in person at retail locations, racetracks, and bars. You must be at least 21 years old to place sports bets.
Online sportsbooks must utilize geolocation technology to block bets in parishes that have voted against sports betting. You must be physically located within the boundaries of an approved Louisiana parish when betting, and you can register remotely.
You can bet on college sports in Louisiana, but as of 2024, you cannot place individual player prop bets on college athletes.
Each of Louisiana's 20 licensed casinos and racetracks is eligible to apply for a sports betting license. Each license can have up to two online skins, allowing up to 40 online sportsbooks in Louisiana. The application fee is $250,000, and the license fee is $500,000 (valid for five years).
House Bill 697 established a 15% tax rate for online and mobile sportsbooks and 10% for retail sportsbooks, though a 2025 law raised the online rate to 21.5%. The tax revenue is distributed as follows: 25% to early childhood education, 10% to local parish governments where retail sportsbooks are hosted, and 2% to problem gambling programs. Senate Bill 142 clarified how the Louisiana Lottery Corporation could be used to manage sports wagering kiosks.
Louisiana has a parish-by-parish legal structure, so state laws must respect local votes. Mobile sports betting is available in 55 of the 64 parishes in Louisiana. These are the nine parishes that voted against legalizing Louisiana sports betting:
The vote was very close in these parishes, with the difference being less than 1% in Sabine, Union, and Jackson.
However, those located in a parish that has not legalized the activity will place their wagers in a nearby parish that offers sports wagering. Mississippi legalized sports betting in casinos in 2018, so some Louisiana bettors have been wagering there.

In Louisiana, you can wager on betting apps and retail sportsbooks. Both offer unique experiences, but we strongly prefer betting apps:
New Orleans may be one of the most unique cities in the country. It's no surprise that many of the most important Louisiana teams call NOLA home.
NFL football arrived in New Orleans in 1967, when the Saints played their inaugural game at Tulane Stadium. The 2009 Super Bowl Championship is indelibly etched into the minds and hearts of the people.
While the Saints had a history of losing during their early years, the LSU Tigers football team has been a powerhouse for decades. They won their first National Championship in 1958 and have always been contenders in the toughest conference in the country.
There are some exciting basketball teams to bet on in Louisiana, including the Pelicans, who brought NBA basketball back to New Orleans in 2013.
Opened in 2004, TPC Louisiana is an 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course in Avondale, Louisiana. It is part of the PGA Tour’s TPC Network of courses (so it shares the brand and quality standard with venues like TPC Sawgrass).
It has hosted the annual Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a PGA Tour event, since 2005.

Louisiana House Bill 484 was passed in 2018. It paved the way for a ballot referendum on the legalization of daily fantasy contests. It was formally known as the Louisiana Fantasy Contests Parish Measure, and a majority of voters in 47 parishes approved it.
That was only the beginning, as licensing and regulatory specifics had to be established through legislative mandate. It took about three years, but in July 2021, DraftKings was issued the first daily fantasy sports license in Louisiana.
Louisiana has four licensed horse racing tracks, and they can also have retail sportsbooks. One of the licensed race tracks in Louisiana is Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans, a venerable track that has been in its current form since 1838. The others are Delta Downs Racetrack, Evangeline Downs Racetrack, and Louisiana Downs.
These facilities are actually “racinos” because they also have slot machines. They are licensed to offer Louisiana sports betting and have mobile sportsbook apps to give you a consummate gaming experience at the tracks.
Here are the Fair Grounds off-track betting locations available to bettors in Louisiana:
Originally, riverboat casinos operated in Louisiana; however, many have since transitioned to more traditional "land-based" operations. The number of land-based casinos in Louisiana reaches well into the double digits. Licensed casinos can offer slots, table games, and poker.
Responsible gambling is a priority in the state, and although operators want your business, they encourage moderation. The Louisiana Department of Health is well aware of the potential for problem gambling and has responded proactively. The Office of Behavioral Health provides free resources to aid in the prevention of problem gaming and offers treatment solutions for individuals with gambling problems.
You can also take control over your own online betting with the following features:
If you have a problem, trained professionals are available to speak with you and recommend assistance. You can reach them at 1-800-522-4700 (available 24 hours a day and confidentially) or contact NCPG via Live Chat.
