There are no fewer than three heats which allow you to study the weights and aim to find some value when it comes to big fields.

These handicap races not only provide customers with the chance to back winners at big prices but there’s also the opportunity to bet each-way.

It’s nearly always the case that betting sites will create extra places for punters in order to stand a greater chance of scooping a return.

Pertemps Handicap Hurdle – 2.10pm

The second race on Day Three of the meeting is the Pertemps, a veritable stampede of horses competing over three miles.

There could be as many as 24 runners lining up and there will be a large variance in terms of the weight being carried.

Chantry House, Cleatus Poolaw and Icare Allen are some of the leading pretenders, although it could pay to create a shortlist of horses.

At this stage of proceedings, we should also have an idea of which stables are in the best form.

Plate Handicap Chase – 4.10pm

The fifth race on Day Three offers customers the chance to choose from 24 runners and it will be interesting to see whether favourite Crebilly hardens in the market.

From an each-way perspective, virtually every horse can be backed with the confidence that a return will be generated if they manage to hit the frame.

Therefore, extra places is the name of the game so that you can stand to receive some winnings if your horse runs into a place even if it finishes behind the eventual winner.

Kim Muir Handicap Chase – 5.30pm

Day Three of the 2024 Cheltenham Festival is capped off by the Kim Muir Handicap Chase, with betting apps making this three miles, two furlong encounter a wide open heat.

There are any number of horses that could land a victory, including Good Time Jonny, Firm Footings and Angels Dawn.
