England Vs India Betting: 4 Tips For Second Test At Edgbaston

England travel to Edgbaston on Wednesday for the second Test with India leading the five-match series 1-0.
The best betting sites have England as favourites to extend their lead to 2-0 in the Midlands.
Ben Duckett's 149 in the second innings on a thrilling fifth and final day at Headingley helped the home side take an early series advantage.
Defeat for India in Birmingham will leave them needing to win the final three Tests to secure a series win.
Second Test Odds:

England Win | 4/6 | |

India Win | 9/4 |
Jofra Archer was named in England's squad after four years disrupted by injuries, however, he will have to wait for his first Test action since 2021 after missing out on selection for Edgbaston.
Meanwhile, the tourists are still pondering whether Jasprit Bumrah will feature in Birmingham. The fast bowler said before the series started that he was fit to play in only three Tests.
Bumrah failed to take a wicket in England's second innings, and if he sits out the second Test his absence will give the remaining Indian bowlers an opportunity to shine.
We look at four of the best bets for this week's second Test.

England Openers To Shine Again
England started their second innings in Leeds needing a daunting 371 runs to win the first Test.
When Jamie Smith smashed Ravindra Jadeja into the stands for a maximum on Tuesday evening, it completed England's second-highest ever run chase to win a Test, and they did it with 14 overs to spare and with five wickets in hand.
In the 10 Tests England have won the toss on home soil during Ben Stokes' captaincy, they have batted second nine times, losing just once.
First Test Opening Partnerships At Headingley:
Team | Runs |
India 1st Innings | 91 |
England 1st Innings | 4 |
India 2nd Innings | 16 |
England 2nd Innings | 188 |
An opening partnership of 188 between Zak Crawley and Duckett laid the platform for their successful Headingley run chase.
That was with Bumrah leading the attack for the tourists, but the openers were patient when they needed to be and were ruthless when a poor ball was bowled to them.
If Bumrah is rested for the second Test, there is no reason why Crawley and Duckett cannot get England off to flying starts at Edgbaston.

Pant To Shine At Edgbaston
Rishabh Pant will feel aggrieved that his centuries in each innings counted for nothing at Headingley.
India's wicketkeeper was box office in Leeds, smashing the England attack to all parts of the ground.
Pant became the first Indian batter to raise his bat in both innings in a defeat since the great Virat Kohli did so against Australia in Adelaide in 2014.
He became the first Indian to score a pair of centuries in a Test in England, and his 252 combined runs were the fourth-most by a wicketkeeper in the history of Test cricket.
First Test Sixes Hit At Headingley
Player | Team | Sixes |
Rishabh Pant | India | 9 |
Jamie Smith | England | 3 |
Harry Brook | England | 2 |
Chris Woakes | England | 2 |
The 27-year-old had fun at the crease, hitting nine sixes over his two innings; England as a team hit eight.
Pant, who became the first overseas player to hit that many sixes in a Test match in England, will look to put on another display of devastating big hitting at Edgbaston and hit the most maximums.
India outscored England 12-8 in the number of sixes hit and they are 11/10 on cricket betting sites to repeat that this week, but we're going for Pant to carry on where he left off last week.
The Panel Bet 2: Pant To Hit Most Sixes In Second Test - 3/1 With Betway
Prasidh Krishna To Thrive In Bumrah's Absence
If Bumrah is to miss the second Test, his absence will considerably weaken India's bowling attack.
However, it is worth remembering that Prasidh Krishna took the same number of wickets at Headingley as the world's number one bowler.
Krishna took three wickets in England's first innings and two in their second, claiming Ollie Pope's wicket each time.
India's First Test Wicket Takers
Player | Wickets | Runs |
Prasidh Krishna | 5 | 220 |
Jasprit Bumrah | 5 | 140 |
Mohammed Siraj | 2 | 173 |
Shardul Thakur | 2 | 89 |
Ravindra Jadeja | 1 | 174 |
He may have been the most expensive Indian bowler, but he did stop England from building momentum by taking wickets at crucial times.
Whether Bumrah plays or not, Krishna will be confident of finishing the second Test as India's leading wicket taker.
The Panel Bet 3: Prasidh Krishna To Be India's Top Bowler - 4/1 With Bet365
Joe Root To Score A First Innings Fifty
Before the Test series began, Joe Root was the number one batter in the world, and he will hope to stay there after the final ball of this series is bowled.
A first innings 28 was followed up by an unbeaten 53 which helped get England over the line at Headingley - his home ground.
Root has a great record at Edgbaston and England's all-time leading run scorer will hope to add to the 13,087 Test runs he has already scored for his country.
Joe Root's Last Four Innings At Edgbaston
Innings | Score |
2nd Innings Vs India (2022) | 142* |
1st Innings Vs Australia (2023) | 118* |
2nd Innings Vs Australia (2023) | 46 |
1st Innings Vs West Indies (2024) | 87 |
In his last four Test innings in Birmingham, Root has scored a total of 393 thanks to two unbeaten centuries and a half century.
Root is 7/2 on betting apps to make it three hundreds in his last five innings at Edgbaston and he is 11/8 to hit his 67th half century in the first innings.
The Panel Bet 4: Joe Root To Score A First Innings Fifty - 11/8 With William Hill
