Farmers Insurance Open Betting Tips: 4 Picks From Torrey Pines

Torrey Pines is the iconic coastal venue for this week’s PGA Tour event, the Farmers Insurance Open which starts on Wednesday.
The tournament is played over two courses, with the lengthy, difficult South taking up three of the rounds and the shorter, easier North just one from the opening two days.
Following the withdrawals of Xander Scahuffele and Collin Morikawa, Ryder Cup star Ludvig Aberg starts as the 9/1 favourite with betting sites, closely followed by Hideki Matsuyama (12/1) and Im Sung-jae (18/1).
Last year’s champion Matthieu Pavon is a juicy 130/1 to go back-to-back following his success as a tournament debutant 12 months ago.
The Panel had a 40/1 each-way success with Tom McKibbin at last week’s Dubai Desert Classic and have picked out four Farmers Insurance Open betting tips, two from the outrights and a couple from the top 20/30 markets.
Farmers Insurance Open Betting Tips: Swede Dreams Of Seaside Success
In-form Aberg looks primed to take advantage of a weakened field by winning his second PGA Tour event this week.
The 25-year-old Swede has not finished outside the top 20 in his last five tournaments and he started the year strongly with fifth place at The Sentry in Hawaii.
In the 20-player Hero World Challenge before Christmas, Aberg was a respectable sixth, although a whopping 13 shots behind winner Scottie Scheffler, who remains sidelined with a hand injury.
That could open the door for Aberg to land his first title since the RSM Classic just over 14 months ago, having missed out in a five-man play-off at the Sanderson Farms Championship six weeks earlier.
Aberg made an encouraging debut at last year’s renewal when he finished inside the top 10 and he features prominently in most of the Strokes Gained metrics from this week’s field.
The only drawback to Aberg’s prospects is whether he can master the South Course’s poa annua greens on which he struggled last year.
That said, last year he finished second at the Sony Open which has the same poa annua surfaces, so he has nothing to fear on that score.
At 9/1 with Bet365, The Panel are going win only for Aberg to get the 2025 season off to the perfect start.

Farmers Insurance Open Odds: Where There’s A Will
Will Zalatoris is one player who has no concerns about poa annua greens as he returns to Torrey Pines where he has excelled in recent years.
The 28-year-old Californian has won just once on the PGA Tour, but he has gone close to adding to his total in three play-offs, one of which came at the Farmers Insurance Open three years ago when he led heading into Sunday’s final round, but was pipped by Luke List at the first extra hole.
Zalatoris was seventh in the previous year and 12 months ago a closing 68-71 gave him a share of 13th, so this is a venue where he generally thrives save for a couple of missed cuts.

Although he struggled with a back problem in 2023, Zalatoris has since packed on the pounds and is looking much stronger as his ball striking stats show.
He may be outside the world’s top 50, but he has made a solid start to 2025, finishing just outside the top 25 at Kapalua and 12th at PGA West last week.
Hopefully, Zalatoris can keep the momentum going and he makes the cut as the next of The Panel’s Farmers Insurance Open tips at 20/1 with BoyleSports, who are offering 10 places, although 22/1 is available with other golf betting sites.

Farmers Insurance Open Preview: Hubbard Can Be Top-20 Hit
Mark Hubbard revealed last week that close family members lost their homes during the Californian wildfires, so it was really encouraging to see him perform so well at The American Express.
The American was just relieved to be able to take his mind off the tragic events by playing at PGA West where he ended in 12th, a week after finishing outside the top 20 at the Sony Open.
Hubbard produced his best ever performance at last year’s Farmers Insurance Open with a closing 69 which helped him sneak into the top 20.
Another top 20 looks on the cards for Hubbard which is priced at 16/5 with betting apps.
The Panel's Farmers Insurance Open Prediction 3: Mark Hubbard Top 20 - 16/5 With Bet365
Farmers Insurance Open Tips: Taylor Made For Top Torrey Display
The last of this week’s Farmers Insurance Open predictions is for Taylor Montgomery to finish inside the top 30 at 5/1 with SpreadEx.
The American has hardly burst out of the blocks in 2025, finishing well down the leaderboard in the last two weeks, but on the positive side at least he made the cut.
What’s even more encouraging is that Montgomery has posted finishes of 11-31-13 in his three visits to Torrey Pines and in a weakish field he could be challenging for the top 30 again.
Montgomery was good on the greens last year and his Strokes Gained: Putting metrics were positive at PGA West, so fingers crossed he can enjoy another excellent week on the Californian coast.
