Tom Lee's Panel Tips For Saturday, March 1

Wrexham Vs Bolton, Saturday 12.30pm

Four defeats since January 1, two of them on their own previously watertight patch, have raised a few question marks about Wrexham's ability to continue their ascent up the leagues.

The North Wales outfit achieved back-to-back promotions, firstly from the National League in 2023 and subsequently from League Two 12 months later.

That's not to say Phil Parkinson's men have not done things well this season, they sit third in the standings with a very healthy 61 points from 32 games.

In goalscoring-defender Max Cleworth, they could have a diamond on their hands. Cleworth scored last Saturday as his side won 2-1 at Mansfield.

However, the Robins have also come a cropper of late against the likes of strugglers Shrewsbury and mid-table Stevenage.

Wrexham go into Saturday's lunchtime game with Bolton on the back of a Football League Trophy semi-final loss to Peterborough.

It was a game in which a much-changed Wrexham side let a two-goal lead slip and then lost on penalties. Bolton will think now could be a good time to take them on at the Racecourse Ground.

I normally avoid 12.30 kick-offs for betting purposes because crowds aren't as animated and some games are not as full-blooded.

However, on this occasion, with little time for Phil Parkinson's side to rest and recover from their penalties heartbreak, this could be to our advantage.

Bolton are resurgent at the moment, and they will be encouraged that sides like Stevenage and Leyton Orient have taken maximum points from their travels to Wrexham.

Under new boss Steven Schumacher, a League One specialist who took Plymouth Argyle from this section up as champions with 101 points in 2023, the Trotters appear transformed.

Schumacher loves to attack and that's precisely what his new side have done of late, winning three on the bounce and scoring nine goals in the process.

A hint of jeopardy follows this improving version of Bolton. They often do things the hard way, like trailing to Crawley, Shrewsbury and Leyton Orient before coming storming back to win.

Stirring comebacks get fans onside and you can be sure a sold-out away end will encourage Schuey's men on this short away trip.

Unlike the hosts, Wanderers have had a full week to prepare and they will hope to cut the gap between the two sides to five points, which will boost their hopes of landing a play-off berth.

Odds of 12/5 are available on football betting sites for Bolton to win away at Wrexham, which is a risk worth taking.

Tom Lee's Panel Tip 1: Bolton To Beat Wrexham - 12/5 With Unibet

Tranmere Vs Port Vale, Saturday 12.30pm

Tempted as I am by Watford's journey to Stoke with play-off ambitions burning, I'm also drawn to Middlesbrough as they rally for under-fire manager Michael Carrick at home to Derby.

However, it's off to League Two we go for leg two, and guess what? It's another 12.30 kick-off.

My belief is Tranmere are going down. Just as I did a week ago prior to their defeat to Notts County, I'll reiterate their inability to defend, highlighted by their deteriorating -29 goal difference.

Compare and contrast that form with visitors Port Vale. The Valiants have come through a mid-season blip to roar back to life, winning five and drawing two of their last seven.

Goals are flowing and confidence is high. At 13/10 on betting apps, Vale are the second component of this away day double.
