Harry Maguire Next Club Odds: Aston Villa Favourites To Grab Embattled United Star

With the Premier League season about to come to an end, the best betting sites are beginning to turn their attention to the summer transfer market.
There will no doubt be plenty of high-profile deals taking place in the coming months, with players like Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane among those who have been linked with pastures new.
Harry Maguire is another who could be seeking a new employer. Previously a regular starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, the England international has fallen out of favour since Erik ten Hag took charge at Old Trafford.
He is now - at best - Manchester United’s fourth-choice centre-half behind Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof.
At times Luke Shaw has even been deployed in the heart of the backline ahead of Maguire.
So, where might the former Leicester City man be playing his football in the 2023/24 campaign? Let’s take a look at the odds before we explore some of the options.
Manchester United Could Keep Hold Of Defender
The football betting sites rate Maguire’s chances of staying put at 7/4 to remain at Old Trafford.
Remember, though, that does not necessarily mean it is more likely that he remains at United than leaves.
It just means that, come September, it is more probable that Maguire is playing for the Red Devils than any of the individual teams listed above.
Maguire initially insisted he wanted to stay and fight for his place, but at some point he will place higher value on playing week in, week out. Maguire turned 30 in March, and he will not want his career to fizzle out.
However, the defender has two years remaining on his contract so United will not feel an urgent need to sell him this summer.
Aston Villa May Swoop For Maguire
Aston Villa are on the verge of qualifying for the Europa Conference League by securing a seventh-place finish in the Premier League.
If Unai Emery’s side match Tottenham Hotspur’s result against Premier League relegation favourites Leeds United when they face Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend, Villa will be back in continental competition.
The Villans will be active in the transfer market even if they finish eighth or ninth, but qualification for Europe would strengthen the need for reinforcements.
Diego Carlos should be fit to return at the beginning of next season, but Emery still might want to add another centre-half to his ranks. Maguire is given a 4/1 chance of being that man.
Newcastle Look Set For A Busy Summer
Similarly, Newcastle will need to bolster their squad as they prepare to return to the Champions League by finishing in the Premier League top four.
Their success this season has been built on a solid backline, with Newcastle possessing the second-best defensive record in the Premier League behind Man City.
Sven Botman and Fabian Schar have formed an excellent partnership at centre-back, but Newcastle have plenty of cash to splash and they will be looking to upgrade most parts of the squad.
The problem for Maguire, who is priced at 6/1 to move to St James’ Park, is that he would not necessarily be a regular starter at Newcastle either. That could put him off a potential switch to the northeast.
Leicester And Tottenham Among Outsiders For Maguire’s Signature
Following spells with Sheffield United and Hull City, Maguire made a name for himself at Leicester.
It was during his time at the King Power Stadium that the England international came to be regarded as one of the country’s foremost central defenders.
A move back to a club he enjoyed such success at the first time around could help to rebuild Maguire’s confidence.
But with Leicester likely to be relegated this season, odds of 9/1 are the best you can get.
Tottenham at 10/1 is a more attractive bet, although much depends on the opinion of whoever replaces Ryan Mason in the dugout as the next Tottenham manager.
Spurs have been linked with Maguire in the past and they could renew their interest ahead of next term, but United would prefer not to sell him to a direct rival.
Could Maguire Move To Italy?
Over the last few years, English players have demonstrated an increasing willingness to try their hand overseas.
Italy has been a particularly popular destination, providing a home to the likes of Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Chris Smalling.
The latter joined Roma from Manchester United in 2019; Maguire is available at 10/1 with betting apps to follow the same path.
Odds are also available for AC Milan (14/1), Inter (16/1) and Juventus (20/1). If Manchester United make it known that they would be willing to listen to offers for Maguire, a move overseas is by no means not out of the question.
