Odds to win the 2023 College World Series
The College World Series is a thrilling event, and the futures market offers some intriguing opportunities for bettors. Here are some of the best futures bets to consider:
Wake Forest Demon Deacons (+220)
Wake Forest remains the betting favorite to win it all, making them the second No. 1 seed to win the CWS (Miami was the first in 1999). The Demon Deacons are an excellent team that happens to be playing great baseball heading into Omaha. However, bettors should not ignore the history of No. 1 national seeds in the CWS. But they should keep who the No. 1 regional seeds were in mind.
LSU Tigers (+310)
The Tigers were the No. 1 team in the nation for the majority of the season. But some late-season struggles caused them to slip down a little in the rankings. But they will head to Omaha playing well and in great shape to make a run, starting with Tennessee Saturday night.
Virginia Cavaliers (+500)
The Cavaliers were one of the more underappreciated teams in the country before Regionals, but not anymore. They cruised through Regionals, winning with a combination of offense and stellar pitching. After losing their super-regional opener to Duke, they crushed the Blue Devils in Games 2 and 3. They have the highest batting average in the nation at .335 and a top-five pitching staff (3.77 ERA).
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (+2,000)
Of the three (TCU, Oral Roberts, and Tennessee), our favorite is Oral Roberts. Tennessee is a solid team but is in a tough bracket (Stanford, Wake Forest, and LSU). They may be able to beat Stanford, but we don’t see them taking down LSU or Wake Forest. TCU has played well (like Oral Roberts), but since we are talking long shots, we like the odds with the Golden Eagles (+2,000).
Team & Odds to Win
- Wake Forest Demon Deacons +220
- LSU Tigers +310
- Florida Gators +380
- Virginia Cavaliers +500
- Tennessee Volunteers +800
- TCU Horned Frogs +900
- Stanford Cardinal +1,000
- Oral Roberts+2,000

College Baseball World Series - Matchup Previews and Best Bets for June 16, 2023
Oral Roberts (51-12) +135 vs. TCU (42-22) -165
On Friday, at 2 p.m. ET, ESPN will broadcast an exciting matchup between the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles and the TCU Horned Frogs. This game holds significant importance as it marks the 46th meeting between these two teams and the seventh time they have faced each other in the postseason. In the previous year's College Station regional, TCU emerged victorious with a score of 3-1. However, neither team managed to advance to the next round.
Historically, Oral Roberts has had the upper hand in this matchup, leading with a 26-19 record. Nevertheless, TCU has been dominant in recent years, winning eight of the last ten encounters. The Horned Frogs last participated in the College World Series (CWS) in 2017, whereas this year's tournament is only the second time Oral Roberts has made it to Omaha.
Virginia (50-13) +100 vs. Florida (50-15) -130
The 2nd Friday clash featuring Virginia Cavaliers and the Florida Gators will also be broadcasted by ESPN. Both teams are well-acquainted with the College World Series (CWS), with Virginia making their sixth appearance this season and Florida marking their 12th trip. The Gators had an impressive run from 2010 to 2018, reaching the CWS seven times and clinching the championship in 2017.
When it comes to head-to-head encounters, the history between Virginia and Florida is limited. They have only faced each other eight times in the past, with their most recent meeting occurring in the 2015 College World Series. In that tournament, Virginia claimed a 1-0 victory in the first game of a three-game series, but Florida bounced back in the semifinals, winning 10-5 and forcing a decisive third game. Ultimately, Virginia prevailed with a 5-4 win and went on to win the CWS title against Vanderbilt.
Stanford (44-18) +170 vs. Wake Forest (52-10) -210
On Saturday, ESPN will broadcast an exciting clash between the Stanford Cardinal and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the College World Series (CWS). Wake Forest, the second-ranked team in the nation, aims to make history as the second No. 1 national seed to win the CWS. However, they face a formidable challenge in the Stanford Cardinal, a team with a rich history in Omaha. This marks Stanford's 19th trip to the CWS and their third consecutive appearance.
Stanford has a strong track record in the CWS Finals, having reached it five times in the past (in 1987, 1988, 2000, 2001, and 2003). They emerged as champions in 1987 and 1988, showcasing their ability to perform on the biggest stage.
In contrast, Wake Forest has made two previous appearances in the CWS, in 1949 and 1955. Remarkably, they reached the CWS Finals on both occasions and secured a championship victory in 1955. Despite the historical success of No. 1 seeds in the tournament, the Demon Deacons possess an exceptional all-around team and are considered one of the top teams in the country.
Tennessee (43-20) +145 vs. LSU (48-15) -175
ESPN will broadcast an eagerly anticipated match-up between the Tennessee Volunteers and the LSU Tigers in the College World Series (CWS) on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. With a long-standing conference rivalry, Tennessee and LSU have a rich history of facing each other on the baseball diamond. The Tigers have historically dominated the series, boasting a 61-29 advantage. However, in their most recent encounter this season on April 1st, the Volunteers emerged victorious with a commanding 14-7 win. Despite LSU winning the season series 2-1, Tennessee has been the stronger team in recent times, winning seven of the last ten meetings.
This marks the second time in three years that the Volunteers have qualified for the CWS, showcasing their consistency and determination. On the other hand, LSU's last appearance in the tournament was in 2017. The Tigers have an impressive record in the CWS Finals, reaching it six times and securing five championships. However, they fell short in their most recent trip to Omaha in 2017.
College World Series Bracket
The College World Series (CWS) features two four-team, double-elimination brackets. The winner of each bracket plays in a best two out of three finals. The tournament runs for two weeks and is played at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The entire schedule has been released.
