Ravens vs. Colts NFL Picks & Best Bets Today: September 24, 2023

Now, through two weeks of the season, we have another Week 2 matchup that features two teams on opposite ends of the spectrum with the 2-0 Baltimore Ravens and the 1-1 Indianapolis Colts, but it comes with a caveat.

The Colts won in Week 2, but it came with some bad news as rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson suffered a concussion and doesn’t look like he’ll be ready to play this week. A matchup of him and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson certainly would’ve been a storyline in and of itself.

The Colts turn things over to a tested backup in Gardner Minshew.

The Ravens won Week 1 against the Houston Texans, the same team that gave the Colts their first win, but they looked sluggish in doing so.

In Week 2, on the road against a now reeling Cincinnati Bengals team, they won 27-24. Jackson threw for 237 yards and two scores and rushed 12 times for 54 yards.

Now, below, we’ll dive into our Ravens vs. Colts prediction. We reviewed the odds from the best online betting sites for our NFL best bets, including BetMGM, Caesars, and FanDuel.

Ravens vs. Colts Betting Trends & NFL Week 3 Predictions

The Colts are 8.5-point favorites on the road, and the total sits at just 44 points. The moneyline for this game is around -375 for the Ravnes and +295 for Indianapolis. While they’re at home, we think the Ravens should pull this one out, but the Colts point spread makes for one of our NFL best bets today

How to Watch Ravens vs. Colts

  • Date: Sunday, September 24
  • Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
  • Location: Baltimore, MD
  • Where to Watch: CBS

With Richardson out of the lineup, it’s easy to look at Minshew starting and immediately write the Colts off. Their run game now has Zack Moss, and while the Ravens have handled the run statistically, there’s context as they went up against a rookie quarterback at home in Week 1, and the Bengals offense is in total disarray.

The Colts have quite a potent offensive line with Ryan Kelly, Quenton Nelson, Bernhard Raimann, Braden Smith, and Will Fries.

A matchup of Raimann and Oweh will be an intriguing one throughout, but the rest of the offensive line should match up quite well here.

Coverage-wise, the Ravens have Ronald Darby and Brandon Stephens. Together, they’ve allowed 20 receptions on 32 targets for nearly 200 yards, and Darby allowed a touchdown last week. They’re a beatable duo with Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce on the outside and Josh Downs working the slot.

Minshew will be working with an offense that should keep him from getting pressured more often than not, which will help move the chains and keep this one within arm’s reach.

Ravens vs. Colts Odds & NFL Best Picks

Below are some Ravens vs. Colts betting trends that helped make our best NFL bets.

Bills vs. Commanders Betting Trends:

  • The Ravens are 2-0 ATS this season and are 2-0 on the season.
  • The Colts were 6-11 ATS last season, 1-1 this year.
  • Colts games went over in four of nine road games in 2022.

⭐ NFL Best Bets 1: Colts +8.5 ATS (-115) at BetMGM: There are a number of matchups that favor the Colts here, which we’ve gone into detail about. This season, Minshew has 27 dropbacks, including 25 last week. When he’s kept clean, he’s completed 17 of 19 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. He’s been in the league for a number of years now, including starting stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he performed adequately enough.

The Ravens pass rush might have some issues penetrating this Colts offensive line while the cornerbacks match up with the Colts receivers.

Expect a clock-chewing, low-scoring affair here, and the Colts keep it close.

⭐ NFL Best Bets 2:  Under 44 total points (-110) at Caesars: With Minshew under center, the offense for the Colts does change, but against a team like the Ravens, they’ll look to chew the clock and keep Jackson off the field. The rushing attack for the Colts isn’t flashy, but Moss should be able to fight out some tough yards with this offensive line.

The Ravens and Jackson also have to deal with a pretty disruptive front seven for the Colts with numerous injuries along the offensive line.

This could be a bit of a defensive battle/lack of explosiveness from the Colts offense, but we think this one stays close enough for the Colts to cover the spread and go under.

Ravens tough this one out, 20-17.

⭐ NFL Best Bets 3:  Lamar Jackson Under 7.5 Rushing Attempts (+110) at FanDuel: In Week 1, Jackson had six rush attempts, and 12 more in Week 2. Here, against the Colts, the Ravens do have some solid matchups on the outside for wide receiver Zay Flowers, and Mark Andrews will look to get more involved.

Opponents are running the ball 30.5 times per game against the Colts, but they’re allowing just 78.5 rushing yards per game, the seventh-least in the league.

Look for Jackson to work in the running backs more and try to take advantage of matchups in the passing game as he battles pressure from the Colts front seven.

At “+” line value, this is worth a shot.
