Commanders vs. Bears Odds, Predictions & Thursday Night Football Picks:

Kicking off Week 5 of the NFL season are the Washington Commanders hosting the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football

The Bears were up 21-7 at halftime in Week 4 at home against the Denver Broncos but blew the lead, lost 31-28, and are now 0-4.

The Commanders have lost their last two games after a 2-0 start to the season. The losses came against great opponents, including the Buffalo Bills at home and Philadelphia Eagles on the road. The Commanders lost by more than 30 against the Bills but took the Eagles to overtime before losing 34-31.

The Bears are now prepared to ship wide receiver Chase Claypool out of town.

The Bears offensive line has dealt with injuries all season and will oppose a formidable defensive front from the Commanders. The Commanders offense will get up against a soft Bears defense with numerous weapons at quarterback Sam Howell’s disposal.

Commanders vs. Bears Against The Spread Pick

On a short week, the Commanders get 5.5-point home favorites. The Bears showed some life in Week 4, with Fields at one point completing 23 of 24 passes, but it was against a Broncos defense that surrendered 70 points to the Miami Dolphins earlier this season.

Howell has several great weapons, including Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel, and Logan Thomas, and a two-headed backfield featuring Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson.

Howell will be able to have his receivers match up with Bears rookie cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, who’s allowed three touchdowns this season.

The Bears have Andrew Billings, who is a force in the interior of the defensive line, but there’s no one else to be concerned with on this defense.

Look for the Commanders to handle this one thanks to their weapons and defense pressuring Fields.

⭐ Best ATS Pick: Washington -5.5 (-110) at BetMGM

Commanders vs. Bears Moneyline Best Bet

While we think the Commanders win and cover here, we cannot ignore the value the Bears moneyline at +210 presents.

There’s certainly a path to the Bears winning, but much of it rests on Fields and his ability.

On top of his rushing ability, Fields does have wide receiver D.J. Moore, but he has some solid matchups this week.

Fields have the talent to single-handedly win a game, but we’ll have to see their game plan.  The value is worth it here as a bit of a contrarian play.

⭐ Best ML Pick: Bears (+210) at Caesars

Commanders vs. Bears Over/Under Best Bet

The Commanders are a middle-of-the-road squad this season, with only two wins against the Broncos and Arizona Cardinals.

The Bears are a bottom-of-the-barrel team in the NFL, and there’s certainly a path where neither offense really gets going, which is why the Under 44.5 (-115) at FanDuel looks appealing.

We’ve seen it from both teams this season, especially the Bears. As for the Commanders, Howell will be entering his sixth start ever, so there’s always potential for ups and downs.

Look for the Commanders to win this one, 23-17.

⭐ Best O/U Bet: Under 44.5 (-115) at FanDuel

Commanders vs. Bears Top Player Props

After a remarkable four-touchdown passing performance in Week 4, taking the under on Fields’ passing touchdowns at 0.5 might appear to be an unwise bet.

In the lead-up to Week 4, Fields had thrown just one touchdown in his previous three games. Those games were against the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Kansas City Chiefs. The games against the Packers and Chiefs were lopsided losses, so “garbage time” was at a premium for Fields and this offense.

Facing the Commanders on a short week on TNF, Fields will be pitted against Benjamin St-Juste and Kendall Fuller at cornerback. At the same time, his offensive line, weakened by injuries, will have to contend with a formidable defensive line.

For the Bears to stand a chance in this game, Fields will likely need to utilize his running abilities extensively, especially against one of the NFL’s top 10 defenses.

⭐ Top NFL Player Prop:  Justin Fields Under 0.5 Passing Touchdowns (+180) at DraftKings
