TheScore's betting platform offers a wide range of North American and international sports, though availability varies by state. The number of pre-game and futures betting options is as good or better than any other book, covering popular sports like football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer, as well as niche markets such as darts, beach volleyball, and e-sports.

During our testing, our reviewers were impressed by the breadth of available leagues, including CFL, UFL, NCAA football, NPB, KBO, PBL, and AHL games, many of which were promoted through daily bonuses or special offers. Before a game, you can click on a “Preview” link that takes you to theScore app (similar to the ESPN app), where you’ll find matchup insights and stats.

Bettors can access standard lines, spreads, totals, and a variety of same-game parlays and player props, along with numerous futures and team-based specials. Match stats and scores update frequently to support live betting, with no lag or loading issues.

Promotions: 9.75/10

theScore Bet has the most unique promotions we’ve seen in the U.S. market, offering dozens of daily sportsbook promos that rotate constantly. Some are built explicitly for the most newsworthy games of the day, but quite a few others are tied to competitions bettors might not even know are taking place. In particular, there are more special deals for futures markets than in any other book.

The boosts we encountered during testing were entertaining, typically without minimum bet amounts or wagering requirements. You can also earn Penn Play Credits and PENN Cash that you can use at PENN destinations and to bet online.

The only drawback is that many promos are tied to specific parlays or bets, often with very long odds that may not match up with everyone's betting preferences.

During our testing, our reviewers found it easy to fund an account and withdraw money reliably, though there are slightly fewer deposit and withdrawal options than there were with ESPN BET. Still, theScore Bet's banking options are more extensive than those of most major sportsbooks.

The one knock is that while some platforms send withdrawals within an hour or so, theScore transactions can take a bit longer, sometimes not going through until the following day, even for smaller amounts.

However, the customer support experience itself can be inconsistent. Live chat begins with a bot, and it can be challenging and time-consuming to connect with a live representative. In some interactions, our reviewers found support staff somewhat limited in both their knowledge and the scope of their independent actions to resolve situations, making this an area where theScore could improve.

Reputation & User Feedback: 9.5/10

theScore Bet previously operated in several U.S. states before exiting the market in 2022 to focus on Canada. Now, the brand is returning online, aiming to reclaim the users it lost during the switch from Barstool to ESPN BET, and so far, theScore's cleaner look is helping. Backed by Penn Entertainment, the platform returns with a built-in audience and relatively high expectations.

So far, it largely lives up to that hype, offering a great variety of sports, excellent value on promotions, and a smooth, fast, and convenient experience during our testing. Based on app store reviews, this sentiment is echoed by both web and mobile users.

Similarly, users in Canada who have been using theScore Bet more recently than many U.S. users report that the app performs well, generally paying out winnings promptly by industry standards. However, three rebrands since 2020 may make some bettors wary, and it remains to be seen how that affects overall trust levels.

After launching as an app-only experience, theScore Bet now has a desktop version that closely matches the app, with an identical color scheme and a very similar layout. Our reviewers found switching between the desktop and app to be relatively seamless.

The app’s overall user experience is impressive. Signing up and getting started on the app is quick and easy; registration typically only takes a few minutes.

While testing the app, our reviewers discovered an intuitive layout and menu system that makes navigation straightforward. Also, known for its slick, polished production quality, theScore Bet delivers the fast, reliable, and smooth performance you’d expect from the best mobile betting experiences. The strong user experience extends to promotions as well, with offers typically based on upcoming specials and even personalized to your betting habits and favorite teams.

Mobile Product: 8.75/10

theScore Bet app is sleek and user-friendly, making it easy to jump between sports and betting markets without lag, an essential feature for live betting. During testing, it ran more smoothly than the betting apps of BetMGM or Fanatics while being on par with DraftKings and FanDuel.

On top of that, the app offers a wealth of real-time sports data and solid betting options, and does an excellent job suggesting betting markets based on your betting history. Navigating from screen to screen is very smooth, and the user interface design stands out, with the unique personality of theScore coming through in various promotions.

A minor but handy feature is bet sharing, which lets you copy a bet and send it to a friend, who can quickly place it themselves. 
 

Responsible Gambling: 10/10

You can find responsible gambling tools anywhere in the app, including options to set daily time limits, deposit limits, spending limits, loss limits, and cool-off periods. You’ll also find several helpful, well-organized articles focused on recognizing and preventing problem gambling behavior, along with clear explanations of the limit-setting and other player safety features available.

Additionally, there is a guide to submitting fairness or other complaints, depending on the state you’re in.

That said, some of these resources are somewhat hidden, marked by a barely noticeable “RG” icon on the app's homepage. Displaying resource information and contact details for problem gambling organizations could be more prominent.

Live Betting Features: 4.75/10

theScore Bet offers standard live betting options, including in-game odds that update frequently, though there aren’t many betting markets to choose from once a game begins. During our review, live betting markets were on par with those of most other sportsbooks, but they don’t particularly stand out among different operators.

You can live stream select sports with a verified account, and live streaming is available directly from the matchup you’re betting on. There’s also a “Watch Live” tab within the live betting menu that shows which games are available to stream, an area where theScore Bet appears to have made improvements compared to previous iterations of the ESPN BET app.

Odds: 7.25/10

The odds at theScore Bet are solid but not spectacular, and generally stay consistent with most competitors’ game lines. During testing, we found that the competition sometimes undercuts theScore Bet lines, so it may take a bit more odds shopping than expected to find the best prices here. Odds shoppers will rarely find the absolute best line at theScore, but the odds are usually right around where you’d expect.

One of the strongest parts of theScore Bet’s odds offering is the app’s “Move the Line” slider tool. This feature allows you to set your own lines and see how the price changes accordingly, giving you more flexibility than you get at other sportsbooks.
