Moore, to the Chicago Bears and took former Alabama Crimson Tide signal caller Bryce Young with the selection. He joins a team coached by Frank Reich, a former NFL quarterback who most recently coached the Indianapolis Colts.
Opposite the Panthers in this NFC South showdown are the Atlanta Falcons, who will have second-year man Desmond Ridder under center.
In the College Football Playoff, Ridder and Young faced off in college on December 31, 2021. There, Young got the best of Ridder as the Crimson Tide won 27-6.

The NFC South is a wide-open division, and any team here could realistically win it. Thus, division matchups like this one are of vital importance.
The Panthers are ushering in a rookie quarterback and a new coaching staff, but despite a quarterback carousel last year, they still won seven games.
Both of these teams have young quarterbacks and experienced coaches. Both teams also have suitable rushing attacks, with Robinson for the Falcons and the newly-signed Miles Sanders, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles, for the Panthers.
Ridder also has numerous options to throw in Robinson, wide receiver Drake London, and tight end Kyle Pitts. The Panthers added some weapons for Young, though it took shipping out Moore, their best player, to get him. In addition to Sanders, they added wide receiver veteran Adam Thielen and tight end Hayden Hurst and drafted Jonathan Mingo in the second round.
Even though this is Week 1, this could be a preview of the eventual winner of the division.

The Falcons are a more established team with their coaching staff and system, but on paper, the Panthers are the better team here.
Offensively, the Panthers might not have the star-powered weapons that the Falcons do, but Pitts is often an afterthought, and it’s unclear how much we should trust Ridder as a starting quarterback. Along the offensive line, the Panthers have the better squad with Ikem Ekwonu, Chandler Zavala, Bradley Bozeman, and more.
As a defense, the Falcons allowed over 360 yards per game last season and brought in Jeff Okudah, who’s struggled throughout his NFL career, at cornerback.
Young is an excellent quarterback. He may be a rookie, but we feel comfortable with him against an NFL defense in Week 1, given his background, this coaching staff, and the team around him.

While it’s unclear what we can expect from Ridder, he does have do-it-all running back Bijan Robinson beside him, who will function quite well in the passing game. Pitts and London are also there, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility for Ridder to get one of the two needed touchdowns here from a screen or swing pass to Robinson.
At +170, there’s excellent value here for a quarterback who can work with his running back underneath but also isn’t really too afraid to throw it to the deeper parts of the field 26.7% of his attempts in 2022 came on throws of 10-19 yards downfield, per PFF).
