Week 8 of the NFL regular season is set to begin on Thursday with the Buffalo Bills hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We're going to target the total in this matchup where we see an edge.

Tampa Bay's offense has struggled all season, ranking 26th in points per game (17.2). The Buccaneers have also been unable to consistently run the ball, ranking 31st in yards per rush (3.1) and 29th in rushing yards per game (77.8). Tampa Bay should also have trouble moving the ball through the air against a Buffalo defense that ranks 10th in yards passing allowed per game (201.3).

Buffalo's typically elite offense has been missing a bit over the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago, the Bills struggled against the Giants with just 14 points and had just three first-half points against the Patriots before a late surge. Over the past three games, the Bills averaged 3.3 points scored in the first halves of those contests, ranking 30th. If those struggles continue, the under is a strong play.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers NFL Picks & Odds

There's just no reason to bet the Green Bay Packers at this point. Two weeks ago, it was a prime bounce-back spot against the Las Vegas Raiders after having extra time to prepare following a Thursday Night game, but the Packers fell 17-13. Then the bye week came and the Packers were set to face the worst defense in the league and the Denver Broncos, only for Green Bay to lose again in another bad offensive showing, 19-17.

Meanwhile, the Vikings had one of the best showings last week, defeating the 49ers 22-17. Kirk Cousins was dominant, completing 35 of 45 passes for 378 yards and two touchdowns, while the Vikings defense held Christian McCaffrey to just 45 yards rushing on 15 carries. Given the Vikings performance on both sides of the ball against San Francisco, we like them to top the struggling Packers.

New York Jets vs. New York Giants NFL Picks & Odds

Without quarterback Daniel Jones, it's clear the New York Giants have found a formula for winning football: control possession and lean on its defense. The Giants hung with the Bills at 15-point underdogs and had a chance to win in Week 6, falling 14-9. Then, last week, the Giants earned a 14-7 win over the Washington Commanders. The Giants held Washington to just 273 yards of offense and limited the Commanders to 1 of 15 on third-down conversions and just 76 yards rushing.

A stout Giants defense could create issues for a Jets offense that ranks third in yards per rush (5.2) and still has to deal with the erratic play of Zach Wilson. With the Giants' improved defense, we're going to take them getting the points in what should be another drawn out, close contest.

We're going with the Steelers based on Mike Tomlin's track record as a home underdog. The Steelers coach is 15-5-4 against the spread as a home underdog and Pittsburgh has historically done well overall when listed as the underdog. Pittsburgh is 45-40 outright as an underdog and has won the last two matchups as an underdog, beating the Ravens and Rams.

Jacksonville is entering with momentum after having won four straight games, but the Jaguars could be exploited through the air, giving up the second-most passing yards per game (273.9). With Jacksonville's weakness in the pass defense department, and Pittsburgh's strong performances as an underdog, we're going to back the Steelers.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Tennessee Titans Week 8 NFL Picks

There remains uncertainty at quarterback for the Tennessee Titans. Ryan Tannehill remains questionable to play after suffering an ankle injury and reports are rookie quarterback Will Levis could make his NFL starting debut. Malik Willis filled in for Tannehill during the Week 6 loss to the Ravens in London, but it appears the team is ready to give Levis a shot if Tannehill plays.

The reality is Tennessee's offense has been bad with whoever has been starting at quarterback. The Titans rank 25th in points per game (17.3) and are 28th in yards per contest (283.5).

Atlanta hasn't been a model of great offense, either. The Falcons rank 29th in points per game (16.4) and are 22nd in red zone scoring touchdown percentage at 47%. With two struggling offenses, we're going to look at the under in this spot.

Houston Texans vs. Carolina Panthers Week 8 NFL Picks

There is no reason to bet on the Panthers. Carolina is 0-5-1 against the spread and hasn't been close to winning a game this season. Offensively, the Panthers rank 23rd in points per game (18.7) and defensively, give up the second-most points per game (31). Carolina doesn't score it well and can't stop anyone from scoring. Not great!

This game will be hyped as a matchup between the top two quarterbacks selected in this year's draft with Houston's C.J. Stroud and Carolina's Bryce Young. Stroud has performed well this season, ranking fifth in passing yards per game (258.5) and sixth in yards per pass (7.2). He also leads the league with the lowest interception percentage rate of 0.47%.

We're going with Stroud and the Texans after the strong offensive showings they've put together so far.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys Week 8 NFL Picks

Los Angeles has struggled to beat good teams, and we feel that trend continues against the Cowboys.

Dallas is coming off its bye week after beating the Los Angeles Chargers 20-17 in Week 6. The Cowboys have stacked up as one of the better teams on both sides of the ball, ranking fifth in points per game (25.7) and fourth in points allowed (16.7). With how the Rams have struggled against the better teams in the league, we like the Cowboys to win this one going away.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Commanders Week 8 NFL Picks

The Eagles put together a statement win over the Dolphins on Sunday Night football, winning 31-17 and holding the league's top rushing offense to just 45 yards on 12 carries. Miami averages 6.3 yards per carry and 162.3 yards rushing per game, both league-highs, but could not generate any success against Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, Washington is coming off one of its worst offensive showings of the season. In the 14-7 loss to the Giants, Sam Howell was ineffective, completing just 22 of 42 passes for 249 yards and an interception and he was also sacked six times. Typically, this could be looked at as a look-ahead spot for the Eagles, but considering Philadelphia needed overtime to win in Week 4, 34-31, and how the defense was torched then, we expect them to look to bounce back on that end of the ball against a struggling Washington group.

Cleveland Browns vs. Seattle Seahawks Week 8 NFL Picks

With Deshaun Watson's status still in doubt, we're going to fade the Browns. Watson exited in the first quarter of last week's 39-38 win over the Indianapolis Colts after only completing 1 of 5 passes for 5 yards and an interception. Backup PJ Walker led the Browns to a game-winning touchdown drive at the end of the contest. But the biggest takeaway from the win was how the league-leading Cleveland defense was torched for 456 yards, with Gardner Minshew passing for 305 yards and two touchdowns.

Cleveland leads the league in yards allowed per game (243) and opponents' third-down conversion rate (27.5%) but was lit up by Indianapolis.

Seattle could have similar success against Cleveland. The Seahawks rank second in points per game (28.7) and sit seventh in yards per contest (364.7). Quarterback Geno Smith also ranks second in yards per pass (8.2), which could set up the Seahawks to exploit Cleveland in the air similar to how Indianapolis was able to.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Arizona Cardinals Week 8 NFL Picks

Detroit's offense was never in it, gaining just 253 yards and going 5 for 16 on third-down conversions.

Baltimore now goes from facing one of the best teams in the league to one of the worst in the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona is 24th in points per game (18.1) and 26th in points allowed per contest (26). The Cardinals have also failed to cover in their last four games, going 0-4 against the spread in that span.

We're going to back the Chiefs to cover once more. Russell Wilson was largely ineffective in the last meeting against Kansas City, throwing for just 95 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The only reason the game was close was that the Chiefs had to settle for four field goals,; the game would have been a blowout.

Denver allows the second-most points per game (31) and gives up the most yards per contest at 424.7. The Chiefs didn't have the overall explosive showing against Denver the first time around, but it is only a matter of time before Patrick Mahomes takes advantage of this bad defense.
