Meruelo Gaming LLC and the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL announced Wednesday the launch of SaharaBets, the newest digital sports betting platform in Arizona.

The SaharaBets name comes from SAHARA Las Vegas and the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. Meruelo Gaming LLC is an affiliate of these entities.

What the Deal Means

With this new sports betting platform, players will be able to download a mobile app starting on Jan. 12, which is just in time for the NFL postseason and Super Bowl.

“SaharaBets brings the excitement and reputation of the iconic SAHARA Las Vegas to sports fans here in Arizona,” SaharaBets President Andrew Patterson said in the news release. “As the sports betting landscape continues to evolve in the Valley, SaharaBets looks forward to collaborating with the Coyotes organization to engage and interact with sports fans in fun and unique ways.”

With this partnership, all eight of the professional franchises in the state of Arizona have a deal with a casino or sportsbook.

The Arizona Cardinals have an agreement with BetMGM Sportsbook, the Phoenix Suns have a partnership with FanDuel Sportsbook and Arizona Diamondbacks have partnered with Caesars Sportsbook.

The Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League have a partnership with BetRivers Sportsbook and the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA have a deal with BallyBet, although that sportsbook has yet to launch in the state.

The Phoenix International Raceway has an agreement with Barstool Sportsbook and TPC Scottsdale has a partnership with DraftKings Sportsbook.

Coyotes Off To Slow Start

“The Coyotes are dedicated to providing innovative and entertaining experiences for our great fans,” said Coyotes President and CEO Xavier A. Gutierrez. “Our partnership with SaharaBets will offer next-level gaming experiences for fans who want to unleash their competitive spirit.”

The Coyotes are majority-owned by Chairman and Governor Alex Meruelo and have 6 wins and 15 points on the season.
