The NFL season will be kicking off in the next few months, with the Kansas City Chiefs trying to make a push for a second Super Bowl title in a row.

And, with the rise of AI consistently in the news, we thought now would be a great time to quiz it on the NFL, and get its thoughts on burning questions such as who the best quarterbacks are and which franchises are the best in NFL history.

So, by using chatbots such as ChatGPT, we did exactly that! Read on to find out the answers, and see if you agree.

Greatest teams in NFL history

The first question we asked AI chatbots was who they thought were the best franchises in NFL history. Here are their Top 5 picks.

1. Pittsburgh Steelers

The seventh oldest franchise in the world, AI has officially voted the Steelers as the best franchise in the NFL, and for good reason. Not only have they won six Super Bowls, with the most recent one being in 2008, but they’ve also won eight conference championships and 24 division titles. They’ve also had some incredible players, including Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw, Jack Lambert and Mike Webster.

2. New England Patriots

The New England Patriots were founded in the AFL as the Boston Patriots in 1959. The franchise joined the NFL with the merger in 1970. Since then, they’ve won six Super Bowls, 11 conference titles and 22 division championships. Tom Brady is their most famous quarterback, playing with the team for 20 seasons, from 2001 to 2019, and the iconic Bill Belichick coaches them.

3. Dallas Cowboys

Valued at $4 billion, the Cowboys are one of the most valuable sports teams in the world. They’ve won the Super Bowl five times, in addition to 10 conference championships and 24 division titles. Several of their players have won MVP awards at the Super Bowl, including Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith.

4. San Francisco 49ers

Founded in 1946 as part of the All-America Football Conference and joining the NFL in 1949 when the AAFC merged with the NFL, the 49ers are the first major professional sports franchise to be based in San Francisco. The 49ers have won five Super Bowls and have been conference champions seven times and division champions 21 times. Some of their most notable players include Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Charles Haley and Terrell Owens.

5. New York Giants

Voted the fifth-best NFL franchise by AI, the New York Giants joined the NFL in 1925 and have won the Super Bowl four times, with their most recent win coming in 2011. They’ve also been conference champions 11 times, and division champions 16 times, with some of their best players being Lawrence Taylor, Eli Manning, Michael Strahan and Harry Carson.

Most passionate fanbases in the NFL

The next question we asked AI chatbots was who has the most passionate fanbases. Here are the Top 5.

1. Buffalo Bills

Known as the Bills Mafia, the Buffalo Bills' fans give the team the most passionate fanbase in the NFL, according to AI. Being a Bills fan in one of the smaller NFL markets is practically a rite of passage, and they’re well-known across the league for their tailgating parties and dedication to the game. Bills fans have lived through four consecutive Super Bowl losses in the early 1990s and then lived through 17 consecutive seasons when the team didn’t make the playoffs.

2. Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles fans have a reputation for being rowdy, including an incident in the 1970s when they booed Santa Claus.

But they’re also known for being huge supporters of their team even though the Eagles haven't always had a lot of success. The team, founded in 1933, won three NFL titles before 1960 and one Super Bowl, that coming in 2018.

3. Green Bay Packers

More than 99% of Green Bay Packers’ season tickets holders renew their seats every year. The waiting list stands at a staggering 140,000, showing just how dedicated the fans are. Packers fans also are the first in professional football team to have a hall of fame, and Fan Hall of Fame, which is there to honor die-hard supporters.

4. New England Patriots

According to a previous survey, the New England Patriots fanbase was 11.7% more passionate than other NFL fans. They’ve also been found to have one of the happiest fanbases, according to another survey, which is perhaps why AI has ranked them so highly.

5. Dallas Cowboys

While the Cowboys might not have won a Super Bowl since the 1995 season, the team's fans have been voted as the cringiest. Saying that, fans show up every year, confident the Cowboys can win, and their famous cheerleaders keep the crowd pumped and wanting to come back for more.

Other fanbases that made it into the Top 10 are fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.
