WNBA Best Bets Today: Atlanta Dream vs. Seattle Storm

  • Date:  Thursday, August 10, 10 PM EDT
  • Location: Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington
  • TV:  NBA TV
  • My best betUnder 164.5 (-110) at BetMGM
Betting MarketAtlanta DreamSeattle Storm
ATS-5.5 (-110) +5.5 (-110)
TotalsOver 164.5 (-110) Under 164.5 (-110)
Moneyline(-375)(+290)

When it comes to the matchup between the Seattle Storm and the Atlanta Dream, it's all about following a recent trend. Unders have been hitting at a high rate for both teams, and now they're set to meet with a total of 164.5. The under has hit in 11 of the 12 Dream games, while the total has gone under in seven of the last nine Storm contests.

We're going to follow that trend and go with the under of 164.5 (-110) at BetMGM. Part of the reason under have been so prevalent for the Storm is they have one of the league's worst offenses. Seattle averages just 78.5 points per game, which is second-to-last in the league and also has the worst field goal percentage (40.8%).

Atlanta's offense ranks higher, averaging the fifth-most points at 83.7 points per game, but the Dream have scored more than 83 points just once in their last nine games. The one over that has hit in the last 12 games for the Dream was due in large part to the New York Liberty going off for 95 points. New York features one of the best uptempo offenses in the league, which is the direct opposite of Seattle.

The Dream and Storm have played once this season with the Dream winning 85-75. That game also went under and comfortably by seven points. Seattle struggled to score, making just 37% of its shots. Expect more of the same offensive struggles tonight.

Best WNBA Prop Bet: Aliyah Boston Over 14.5 Points (-125) at bet365

⭐ Aliyah Boston Over 14.5 Points (-125) at bet365

We backed Aliyah Boston's point total in our last betting preview, taking her over and it paid off then with Boston scoring 18 points on 7 of 8 shooting against the Los Angeles Sparks. Once again, we're going to back her and take the over on her scoring prop.

Boston has hit the over in her last three games, scoring 19, 25 and 18 points during that span as the Indiana Fever has continued to make her more of a focal point on offense. Her recent production and the Dream prioritizing her on offense have us confident in taking Boston over 14.5 points (-125) at bet365

Boston has averaged 15.5 points in two matchups against the Minnesota Lynx this season, scoring 22 points on 8 of 9 shooting on July 5 but was also limited to 10 points on 2 of 9 shooting on June 9. We're going to back Boston and confident her most recent performance will be more indicative of what happens on Thursday. She's on one of the best runs during her rookie season and Indiana is giving her more opportunities to score recently.

Recommended Bet: Aliyah Boston Over 14.5 Points (-125) at bet365

Best WNBA Prop Bet No. 2: Brittney Griner Under 16.5 Points (-104) at FanDuel

⭐  Brittney Griner Under 16.5 Points (-104) at FanDuel

With Connecticut Sun center Brionna Jones out for the season with an Achilles injury, it would seem Brittney Griner would feast against a Sun team missing its primary interior defender. But on July 18, the Sun limited Griner to just 10 points on 4 of 10 shooting. Now, as the Sun prepare to face Griner again, we expect a similar defensive effort.

We're going with Griner under 16.5 points (-104) at FanDuel for our bet on Thursday's matchup between the Sun and Mercury. Griner has scored more than 16 points just once in her past six games. Her efficiency hasn't been an issue. During that stretch, she's made 50.7% of her shot attempts (34-67), it's the low shot output. In four of those games she failed to get more than 10 shots off and had just seven attempts in two.

Given how Connecticut successfully defended Griner in their last matchup, and Griner's low volume of shots, we're going with her under.

Recommended Bet: Brittney Griner Under 16.5 Points (-104) at FanDuel
