It's fair to wonder how much the Aces miss two-time WNBA champion and MVP, Candace Parker. But with Parker still sidelined with a foot injury, the Liberty have had the advantage.
Similar to Tuesday, we're going to back the Liberty +6.5 (-115) at FanDuel. New York has the size and frontcourt advantage with its MVP duo of Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart. With these two, the Liberty has been the only team to consistently limit Las Vegas' A'ja Wilson. On Aug. 6, the Liberty held her to just nine points on 2 of 14 shooting. That poor performance didn't turn out to be a fluke. The Liberty limited Wilson to just nine points again on 2 of 10 shooting on Tuesday.
Without Wilson, the pressure on Las Vegas' guards to produce becomes amplified. But they still weren't able to produce and convert looks from the perimeter. The Aces made just 19% of shots from 3-point range (5 for 26) and were just 33% from the field overall (23-69). This is a team that shoots above 50% against everyone else in the league but has recently struggled with New York's size and athleticism.
It's fair to wonder if New York is prone to rest on its laurels this game after beating Las Vegas on Tuesday and winning the Commissioner's Cup, while Las Vegas is in a revenge spot. Still, the Liberty should be motivated to earn homecourt advantage throughout the postseason which should at least limit the chance for a letdown here.
