FanDuel Launches New Responsible Gaming Initiatives

In honor of March being Problem Gambling Awareness Month, FanDuel Group will be rolling out new programs, ad campaigns, themed content, and a $100,000 donation to the National Council on Problem Gambling as part of its “Play Well” initiative.

FanDuel’s Ad Campaign

FanDuel’s responsible gaming advertisement was built in a joint effort between FanDuel’s internal creative team and was produced by Boomshot.

This campaign is dubbed “The System” and will be featured in multiple mediums such as TV, digital, social, and audio.

The television ad has the following premise: “a friend seeks the inside scoop on a winning betting system. Rather than "road dogs" or "bird mascots," he learns the winning system is the one that keeps sports betting fun — using FanDuel's responsible gaming tools, like setting deposit, wager, and time limits.”

This campaign aims to bring more awareness to the tools FanDuel has for responsible gaming.

Bringing Personalities to the Campaign

Craig Carton, a FanDuel Responsible Gaming Ambassador and sports media personality, will also play a role during this campaign by featuring FanDuel employees and customers who will tell their own stories when it comes to online gambling on the Carton and Roberts Show as well as Hello My Name is Craig on WFAN.

Additionally, Carton has filmed some responsible gaming content that will air this month, including a responsible gaming training module for FanDuel employees, a responsible gaming tutorial for players, and various social media videos highlighting the various tools FanDuel offers.

“We’re fully committed at FanDuel to developing useful tools and programs that make a difference in responsible gaming,” Adam Warrington, Vice President of Responsible Gaming, FanDuel Group, said in a news release. “Our new ad campaign and Craig Carton’s content aim to bring an important spotlight to our player control tools that help customers keep sports betting fun and entertaining.”

The $100,000 donation, as mentioned previously, is meant for allowing the organization (National Council on Problem Gambling) to continue to advocate for programs and services to assist people and families affected by problem gambling.

“The Play Well tools offer a common-sense, non-stigmatizing approach to responsible play and problem gambling prevention. This critical initiative not only offers vital consumer protections but actively encourages customers to use these tools regularly,” National Council on Problem Gambling Executive Director Keith Whyte said in the release. “We applaud FanDuel Group for taking meaningful steps, during Problem Gambling Awareness Month and all year long, to promote responsible gambling and address problem gambling nationwide.”

FanDuel’s Responsible Gaming Tools

FanDuel has always offered various tools for responsible gaming and does so year-round for all of their online wagering platforms. The tools include the following, according to FanDuel:

  • Deposit Limit — Decide how much you can deposit within a given time period.
  • Wager Limit — Decide how much you can wager within a given time period.
  • Maximum Wager Size Limit — Decide how much you can wager on a single bet.
  • Time Limit — Decide the max daily number of hours you can spend on FanDuel apps.
  • Time Out — Decide if you want to take a break from betting.
  • Self-Exclusion — Decide to exclude from gaming on all FanDuel Sites. FanDuel customers who self-exclude are offered a free Gamban subscription, which proactively blocks users from easily accessing thousands of gambling sites on up to 15 personal devices.

FanDuel currently has more than 100 employees focused on responsible gaming and the on-boarding process for all new employees features training in this area. You can also find responsible gaming experts at all brick-and-mortar FanDuel sites.

FanDuel Group operates the following platforms in the following states:

  • Casino: Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania
  • Sportsbook: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia & soon to launch Fanduel Maryland
  • Daily fantasy sports: 47 states
  • Horse Racing: TVG, which is available in most of the country.

FanDuel urges players that need help to visit the National Council on Problem Gambling and to call or text 1-800-522-4700.
