Super Bowl Bets: Gatorade Shower, Coin Toss, National Anthem

In many states, novelty bets, including bets on the color of the winning head coach’s Gatorade shower, are not allowed, but massive interest in the Super Bowl generates interest in these bets. In some states, they are allowed.
According to BetMGM, the Gatorade shower, in which players on the winning team dump a bucket of Gatorade on the head coach, appears to have originated with the New York Giants after a regular-season game on Oct. 28, 1984. That sparked a trend that has led to continued interest in the Gatorade shower when the Super Bowl rolls around.
This year’s Super Bowl, set for Sunday, Feb. 8, features the Mike Vrabel-coached, AFC champion New England Patriots against the Mike Macdonald-coached, NFC champion Seattle Seahawks.
