WATCH: Super Bowl Betting Insight With Craig Mucklow of Caesars Sportsbook

In the mid-1980s, the sportsbook at Caesars hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip generated publicity by posting a unique prop bet. The bet, posted at 20-1, was that William “The Refrigerator” Perry, a defensive lineman for the Chicago Bears, would score a touchdown in the 1986 Super Bowl.
By game time, the action was so heavy that the bet moved to 2-1.
During the game, with the Bears on the opponent’s one yard line, Perry was sent in to run a play with the offense, lining up in the backfield. He received a handoff and scored on a short run.
The touchdown led to a financial loss for Caesars but a wave of free publicity across the globe. (The Bears, under coach Mike Ditka, defeated the New England Patriots in that game, 46-10, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.)
All these years later, Caesars Sportsbook has expanded its Super Bowl betting menu for this season’s game in Santa Clara, California. Super Bowl 60, set for Sunday, Feb. 8, pits the AFC champion New England Patriots (+4.5) against the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks.
This season’s Super Bowl betting menu at Caesars includes 28 pages of traditional point spread and moneyline bets, along with dozens of prop bet options, including one on the coin toss and another on whether a defensive rostered player will score an offensive touchdown. (Regarding the coin toss, most money at Caesars has been on tails.)

Craig Muckow Quotes

“We've seen 74% of the money come for Seattle on the spread right now.”
“We are seeing 65% of the money to the over, which we generally do anyway on the Super Bowl.”
“In our trading department (we) literally just listen to beat writers, listen to the press conferences, follow the injury news, because any kind of piece of information is valuable. … The money always follows any kind of information.”
“Since Caesars Sportsbook acquired William Hill and we went live with the Caesars Sportsbook app, we've had the pleasure of taking the largest single wager in sports betting history and regulated sports betting, $9.5 million (from Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale) on the Bengals.”
