Legendary Bettor Billy Walters Placing 'Small' Bet On Super Bowl

Two longtime Las Vegans who’ve been around the betting scene for years, Billy Walters and Casey Lewless, are taking different sides on this year’s Super Bowl.
The NFC’s San Francisco 49ers take on the AFC’s Kansas City Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champions, in the game on Sunday in Las Vegas.
Billy Walters Likes The Chiefs
Legendary sports bettor Billy Walters is placing a “small bet” on the Chiefs, he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“A small bet for me is between $500,000 and a million bucks on the Super Bowl,” he told the newspaper.
Walters said the Chiefs have the advantage at two positions, quarterback and kicker, which are vital to him in handicapping football games.
Last year, Walter’s book “Gambler: Secrets From a Life at Risk” was published, recounting his experiences in the gaming world, including during the Mob era in Las Vegas.
Casey Lewless Sees Value In The 49ers
On Gambling.com’s “The Edge,” Lewless, who worked at Las Vegas sportsbooks for years, puts his money on the favored 49ers. This contradicts advice he got years ago from famed sports bettor Lem Banker about generally going with the underdog.
During a discussion on “The Edge,” Lewless, now managing two Penn Entertainment sportsbooks in Louisiana, explains why he’s taking the 49ers. His explanation begins at about the 7:58 mark.
