Michigan Gaming Control Board Will Hold a Meeting on Tuesday

The Michigan Gaming Control Board members will convene on Tuesday, July 9, for a regularly scheduled meeting to discuss business related to the administration of relevant iGaming topics related to the 15 licensed Michigan casinos online and any other online gambling questions in the State of Michigan.

The public can attend the meeting or observe the proceedings via Zoom or telephone. Some topics on the agenda include recommendations regarding occupational license applications, pending new supplier license requests, and renewal requests for supplier licenses.

MGCB Battles Illegal Online Gambling Operations

MGCB officials have been busy in the previous months, conducting investigations into delayed withdrawals at license brands and making efforts to stop illegal operators' activities in Michigan. One of the latest wins against offshore online casinos is Bovada's compliance with MGCB's request to cease its activities in Michigan.

Last Wednesday, Bovada emailed its users in Michigan via emails confirming service and account closures. The cease-and-desist letter sent by MGCB on May 28 to Bovada warning the offshore operator to stop its operations in the Wolverine State within 14 days is bearing fruit.

The MCGB executive director, Henry Williams, recently stated that illegal gambling operations undermine the integrity of the Michigan-regulated gaming industry. Great Lakes State players can gamble at 15 license operators, including BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars Palace Online Casino, and BetRivers. The legal operators offer no deposit bonus Michigan offers and entertaining casino games.

MGCB Invests in Responsible Gambling

The regulatory agency is boosting its workforce with 14 new employees in 2024, filling staff positions necessary to support its internet gaming and sports betting regulatory operations. Additionally, the MGCB will receive $3 million for its FY2025 budget to fund the “Don’t Regret the Bet” responsible gaming campaign. The camping offers tips and information to Michigan players that can help them gamble smart and control their gambling impulses.
