The University of Connecticut has been home to some of the best basketball athletes in the country.

Some of the top NBA players in the league, guys like Kemba Walker, Ray Allen, Andre Drummond and Richard Hamilton come from Connecticut.

Let's look at the odds this week for each active NBA player that hails from Connecticut, see how their team is doing, and if there are any player prop bets available on these guys. If they aren't starters, they might not necessarily have any props available!

Our primary focus will be on FanDuel Sportsbook and Sugarhouse Sportsbooks, two of the three online sportsbooks to launch in the state.

Betting on Connecticut NBA Players for Week 3

Let's take a look at week three of the NBA season, and see what NBA bets we can make on some of these Connecticut players.

Typically, you can look at the usual betting options, such as moneyline, totals and spreads, as well as player and team prop bets.

Let's take a look at these five Connecticut NBA players:

James Bouknight (Charlotte Hornets)

After a solid performance in the preseason, the rookie is back to the bench, accumulating less than two minutes played in total so far in the regular season. After not playing the past five games, Hornets coach James Borrego has said Bouknight’s “opportunity is right around the corner”. That was on Oct. 24.

Needless to say, there are no player props for Bouknight as he's not starting, so let’s look at the game between the Hornets and Golden State Warriors.

This is a game I’d likely avoid. The Warriors are on the road giving the Hornets six points on both FanDuel and SugarHouse.

Both teams move up and down the court with relative ease and that is reflected in the over/under being in the 225.5 or 226 range at these sportsbooks.

Although they are at home, the Hornets have played well this year led by point guard LaMelo Ball.

The next few games against the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Clippers could be interesting spots. However, these depend on the lines. With that said, the Hornets should handily take out the Kings.

As far as Golden State, though, fade this game.

Andre Drummond (Philadelphia 76ers)

The nine-year veteran has started one game, and has subbed in for six games. So far, he is averaging 6.7 points per game, but has his rebounds up at 10. Drummond has always been a rebounding savant.

This week, the 76ers will play the Chicago Bulls (Wednesday), Detroit Pistons (Thursday), and the 76ers again (Saturday).

At home for this one, the 76ers are 2.5 point favorites at both FanDuel Sportsbook and SugarHouse. The total is set at 217.5 at both books.

Once again, these are two good teams and they play each other twice this week. At 2.5 points considering how good both of these teams are, I’ve started to ponder the under 217.5. Both of these teams are more than capable of scoring, but they’re also both good at locking down opposing teams with both allowing less than approximately 103 points per game.

While I’d lean the under here, this is still a tough game to pick.

Rudy Gay (Utah Jazz)

After 15 years in the NBA, Rudy Gay has proven time and time again he can be an excellent contributor.

With nearly 17 points per game and close to six rebounds per game, he’s proven he’s a valuable commodity off the bench.

The Jazz do not play Wednesday night, but will be taking on the Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat and Orlando Magic to round out the weekend.

It’s safe to think that the Jazz could win all three of these games.

The other thing we’ll be monitoring are the totals. The Jazz are an excellent defense and only allow about 100 points per game, which is fourth in the NBA.

Kemba Walker (New York Knicks)

Now let’s head over the New York side of this game and look at point guard Kemba Walker.

So far this season, Walker is averaging 15 points per game and just over three rebounds and assists per contest.

His 3-point percentage is up, though, at nearly 57%, but it’s still quite early in the season.

When it comes to Wednesday night player props for Walker, his over/under on points in this game set at 16.5 at FanDuel.

Before their game against the Toronto Raptors, Walker has topped that point total in three straight games.

Going up against the Pacers and considering how hot Walker is from three, I’d lean over, but it is a close call.

Online Sports Betting is Now Live in Connecticut

Sports betting in Connecticut has been live since October. Two of the sportsbooks in the state are Sugarhouse Sportsbook and FanDuel which we discussed here today.

The governor even placed a wager on the moneyline on the New York Giants against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8 of Monday Night Football. He was quite close on that one with the Giants only losing by three.

Connecticut saw 1.2 million transactions its first week.

So, if you’re in Connecticut, you have to act now. Head over to SugarHouse and/or FanDuel, create an account, take advantage of their bonuses, and make some bets today!
