March Madness 2024 Predictions - Second Round

Below, we’ll make some March Madness 2024 predictions, using three games from the eight matchups already decided as we venture into the weekend. These include Oregon vs. Creighton, Texas vs. Tennessee, and Duquesne vs. Illinois.
Saturday, March 23
No. 3 Creighton vs. No. 11 Oregon Prediction, 9:40 (TBS)
ATS: Bluejays -5 (-115) at DraftKings
Total: 145.5 (-115) at FanDuel
Moneyline: Bluejays -245 at bet365
Oregon head coach Dana Altman has been with the Ducks since 2010, but before that, he coached Creighton from 1994-2010. This is going to be a tight game. The Ducks have two excellent players in Jermaine Couisnard and N’Faly Dante. They combined for 63 points. The Bluejays are led by Ryan Kalkbrenner, who scored 23 points and had eight rebounds against Akron.
The only issue with Creighton is that, despite their offensive prowess, they tend to rely on their starting five. This line opened at Creighton being favored by seven and that was far too many points. A five-point spread is more manageable, but we expect some offense here.
Our suggested betting pick is to take the Over 145.5 (-115) at FanDuel in the Creighton vs. Oregon matchup.
No. 2 Tennessee vs. No. 7 Texas Prediction, 8:00 (CBS)
ATS: Volunteers -6.5 (-110) at DraftKings

Moneyline: Tennessee -270 at bet365
Texas muscled through a win over Colorado State, but they were horrendous from three-point range, shooting just 7.1%. Against the Rams, Texas had three players score double-digit points while the Volunteers demolished No. 15 Saint Peter’s. They more than doubled their rebounds, and Tennessee shot 50.9% from the field and won 83-49.
Texas is going to have a hard time with Knecht here. He’s a future first-round NBA Draft pick. Tennessee holds teams to under 39% from the field, and they have a bit more on offense.

No. 3 Illinois vs. No. 11 Duquesne Prediction, 8:40 (TNT)
ATS: Fighting Illini -10 (-112) at DraftKings
Total: 147.5 (-110) at FanDuel

Duquesne pulled out a fantastic win against BYU. They won 71-67 as Dae Dae Grant had 19 points. They held BYU to under 39% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range.
As for Illinois, they handled Morehead State, winning 85-69. Marcus Domask had a triple-double which was the tenth-ever triple-double in NCAA Tournament history. Terrence Shannon Jr. had 26 points.
Duquesne did well defensively against BYU, but Illinois is a different kind of offensive team with Shannon Jr. Look for Illinois to win the rebounding battle and handle business here.
