EFL Championship Betting Treble Including Ipswich Vs Southampton

The Championship season got started with a bang last weekend and there should be plenty of excitement on matchday two as well.

Coventry manager Frank Lampard will be looking for victory over Derby County, his former club, in one of Saturday’s early kick-offs.

Elsewhere, two relegated teams meet as Ipswich host Southampton, while Blackburn do battle with Birmingham at Ewood Park.

Here are our recommended tips for those three matches - our EFL treble works out at around 9/2 with the best betting sites.

Weekend Championship Treble

Derby Vs Coventry - Saturday 12.30pm

Coventry were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Hull last weekend.

The Sky Blues racked up 18 shots but landed just three of those on target against the Tigers, who have been tipped to be involved in the relegation battle this term.

It was a disappointing start to what Coventry fans hope will be a promotion-winning campaign.

Lampard’s men bounced back in midweek, though, beating Luton 1-0 in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Coventry were much more effective going forward on Tuesday night, albeit against League One opposition, and a second clean sheet on the bounce will have delighted their manager.

Lampard came within one game of guiding Derby County to promotion in 2019, only to lose the Championship play-off final to Aston Villa

He is still well liked by the Derby fans, who saw their team lose 3-1 to Stoke on matchday one.

The Rams then beat West Brom on penalties in the Carabao Cup after a 1-1 draw, restoring a little confidence in the camp.

This looks set to be a tight game at Pride Park. Three out of the four matches involving either Coventry or Derby in 2025/26 have featured under 2.5 goals.

It is a small sample size, but neither manager will want to give much away on Saturday.

Tip 1: Under 2.5 Goals - 4/7 With Ladbrokes

Blackburn Vs Birmingham - Saturday 3.00pm

Birmingham fans were gutted when they saw Ipswich score that late equaliser at St Andrew’s.

However, there was plenty for Chris Davies to be pleased about in his team’s first game following promotion to the Championship.

The Blues do not intend to merely make up the numbers in the second tier, and they will head to Ewood Park with the intention of collecting all three points.

Blackburn only narrowly missed out on the play-offs last term, but they will struggle to get as close to the top six this time around.

A 1-0 defeat by West Brom last weekend was followed by a 2-1 humbling by Bradford City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Blackburn desperately need to respond this weekend. Unfortunately, they are facing a better side than them.

Birmingham look well equipped to challenge for automatic promotion; if they play to their potential, they should prove too strong for Blackburn here.

Tip 2: Birmingham To Win - 11/8 With Ladbrokes

Ipswich Vs Southampton - Sunday 12.00pm

Ipswich left it late to rescue a point against Birmingham last weekend, with George Hirst converting an equaliser from the penalty spot in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.

That was their only shot on target - and it was enough to get them a 1-1 draw on the opening night of the season.

Another 1-1 draw followed in the Carabao Cup in midweek, but this time it was followed by a penalty shootout which was won by League Two Bromley.

Kieran McKenna’s men fell victim to one of the biggest upsets in the first round of the tournament, but Ipswich supporters will not be overly bothered as long as their team bounce back against Southampton.

The Saints also relied on late drama to see off Wrexham last weekend, coming from 1-0 down to win 2-1 thanks to two goals from the 90th minute onwards.

Southampton then beat Northampton 1-0 on Tuesday, making it the perfect start to the season for Will Still’s side.

Ipswich and Southampton are two of the promotion favourites this season. Although we are only in the second week of 2025/26, this is a key game.

Home advantage should help Ipswich to carry more of an attacking threat than they did against Birmingham, but Southampton also have players capable of making an impact in the final third.

Tip 3: Both Teams To Score - 8/11 with Ladbrokes
