Erling Haaland has failed to score in his last three appearances against United, but his confidence could not be higher after bagging five goals and providing two assists in Norway’s astonishing 11-1 victory over Moldova in World Cup qualifying during the week.
Haaland had also scored the only goal in his country’s 1-0 win against Finland in a friendly five days earlier to add to the three he netted in the early days of this season’s Premier League.

City, though, could be without several players this weekend, so rather than pick Haaland to score, it may pay dividends to focus on him having a shot on target.
Haaland has taken a Premier League-high 14 shots in three games, five of which were on target, the joint-highest alongside Cunha.

United defender Luke Shaw has started all three Premier League games this season and can usually be relied on to commit a foul.
The 30-year-old left-back has given away at least one free-kick in every match and in the heat of a derby battle must surely be a candidate to add to his five fouls.
This will be the first time in three seasons that Shaw has faced Pep Guardiola’s side in the top flight, but encouragingly he drew the attention of the referee in both games during the 2022/23 campaign.
