California Visitor Turns $105 Bet Into $1.2m Payday At Resorts World Las Vegas

On Sunday night, a lucky visitor from California hit a $1.2million jackpot after betting just $105 on a video poker machine at Resorts World Las Vegas, casino officials said.

The anonymous player was staying at the luxury property when they played the $5 Double Super Times Pay Poker video poker machine, which randomly assigns multipliers, and received an unprecedented three royal flushes in a single session.

With the added benefit of a 20x multiplier, the winnings totaled more than $1.2m.

Resorts World representatives described the moment as "thrilling" and said the win lit up the casino floor, drawing attention from staff and other players alike.

The property did not release any details about the winner’s identity, a common practice in Las Vegas for large jackpots.

How The Win Happened

Double Super Times Pay Poker is known for its higher volatility due to multiplier features that can randomly boost certain hands, particularly rare ones like royal flushes.

According to gaming analysts, these stacked multipliers appear infrequently but can dramatically enhance payouts when they do hit. In this case, each of the three royal flushes qualified for the 20x boost, creating a combined prize that stunned even seasoned casino employees.

Officials explained that the player’s $105 wager was an aggregate of several bets, each leveraging the multiplier feature.

While such wins are possible, they remain extraordinarily uncommon given the long odds associated with landing multiple royal flushes and random multipliers in a single session.

Part Of A Big Year For Jackpots

Resorts World Las Vegas has seen a wave of excitement in recent months thanks to several major payouts.

The most recent occurred in late November, when a family won an $11.1m Megabucks™ Mega Vault™ slot jackpot using $5 spins - the first time that specific jackpot had ever been won at Resorts World.

The win drew significant attention to the casino’s gaming floor, with many people posting clips and photos of the winning screens on social media.

As with many large video poker and slot jackpots, the winner has not been publicly identified.

Vegas Odds And A Reality Check

While stories of life-changing jackpots add to Las Vegas’s enduring mystique, gaming experts emphasize that such outcomes are statistical outliers.

Casinos are designed to favor the house over time, offering entertainment with the potential for big wins but with long odds for most players.

Resorts World’s public relations team echoed that sentiment, reminding visitors that luck can strike unexpectedly but that gaming should always be approached responsibly and within one’s means.
