Detroit's Casinos Post $108.2M November Revenue, A Marginal Year-On-Year Gain

Detroit’s three retail casinos reported $108.2 million in revenue in November, up from $107.4 million in October.

As expected, the vast majority of revenue ($106.5 million) came from table games and slots

This represented a 0.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024 and a 0.5% increase from October.

Sports betting contributed $1.7 million, while the casinos paid $8.6 million in state gaming taxes and more than $13 million in additional wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the city of Detroit.

Detroit Casino Results

MGM Grand Detroit maintained its market lead, capturing 47% of the total market share during the month.

The property generated $50.7 million from table games and slots, a 3% increase compared to the prior year.

It also reported an additional $587,295 in sports betting revenue, representing a 28.4% increase from 2024.

MotorCity Casino held a 30% market share, generating $31.4 million in casino gaming revenue and $565,718 from Michigan sports betting. Those figures represented declines of 5% and 0.9%, respectively.

Hollywood Casino at Greektown accounted for the remaining 23% of the market, producing $24.4 million from table games and slots, along with $554,751 in sports betting revenue.

While casino gaming revenue increased by 1%, sports betting revenue fell by 37.4% compared to 2024.

These results come despite a noticeable decline in foot traffic. November visitation was down 3.5% year-over-year and 27.6% compared to 2019 levels.

The drop in visitor numbers has been observed across most states, with Pennsylvania standing out as a notable exception.

Pennsylvania has surpassed both New Jersey and Nevada to become the state with the highest gambling revenue in the US.

This growth has been driven not only by rising iGaming revenue but also by a 28.9% increase in retail casino foot traffic since 2019.

Detroit’s retail casino revenue has remained relatively stable over the past several months, even as Michigan’s iGaming market continues to set records.

In October, the state reported gross iGaming revenue of $278.5 million, the highest monthly total on record, surpassing the previous mark of $263.3 million set in July 2025.

On December 9, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), which oversees the state’s casino and iGaming licenses, conducted its regular review of gambling industry activity.

The board noted that it had issued 12 cease-and-desist letters to illegal online operators and reiterated that Michigan residents should use only regulated sites licensed by the MGCB.

The board also reported a 24% increase in iGaming revenue in 2024, with total revenue reaching $2.9 billion.
