Free online craps lets you play for fun and learn how the different bets work before moving to real-money play.
What is Free Craps?
Craps is a dice game with a variety of betting options. The table layout can look intimidating at first, so free play is a great way to learn the rules and follow the roll of the dice without risk.
How to Play Free Craps Games
Choose a free craps variant above and click Play Now to launch the demo.
The best place to start is with the Pass Line bet. Put your chips on the Pass Line space - it’s the most common wager and carries a low house edge.
Click Roll to throw the dice:
- 7 or 11 → you win.
- 2, 3, or 12 → you lose.
- Any other number → that number becomes the point.
When a point is set, the game pauses to let you place additional wagers, such as the Odds bet behind your Pass Line. This bet has no house edge and improves the overall value of your wager.
Click Roll again to continue. The dice roll until:
- The point is rolled → Pass Line wins.
- A 7 is rolled first → Pass Line loses.
Any payouts are added to your play-money balance.
Once you’re comfortable with the Pass Line, try other wagers like Don’t Pass (the opposite of Pass Line; it wins if a 7 is rolled before the point) and Place bets (backing specific numbers to be rolled before a 7).
Pro tip: Don’t Pass has a slightly lower house edge than the Pass Line. On the come-out roll, a 12 is a push (neither a win nor a loss), which brings the edge down to 1.36% compared with 1.41% on the Pass Line.
Free Online Craps Variations
Craps doesn’t come in wide different varieties online. Most games follow the classic format, offering standard bets like Pass Line, Don’t Pass, Come, and Place bets.
The main difference is presentation, such as table design, and free play is the easiest way to see which you prefer.
One exception is Crapless Craps, a variant where the "come-out" roll doesn’t lose on 2, 3, or 12. The trade-off is that payouts are adjusted, and the house edge is higher than in classic craps.
Free Craps Strategy & Tips
Craps tables are often seen as complicated or even chaotic, but focusing on the right bets keeps things simple and the house edge low.
- Stick to Pass/Don’t Pass: These core bets carry a low house edge and are the foundation of smart craps play.
- Use Odds Bets: Once a point is set, adding an Odds bet behind your Pass or Don’t Pass wager has no house edge (true odds). Combined with your main bet, it offers the best overall odds in the casino.
- Skip Proposition Bets: The single-roll bets in the middle of the table look tempting, but they carry the highest house edges and are best avoided.
