iGaming Revenue Report for Pennsylvania Shows Double-Digit Growth

It was a double-whammy of news from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) last week – two announcements showing big upticks in iGaming revenue in Pennsylvania.

On the one hand, in December, PA online casino games generated a monthly gross revenue of just over $165.1 million, an increase of 22.69% compared to 2022 ($134.6 million).

Slots generated $116.8 million, tables $45.8 million, and poker $2.4 million.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse generated $60.95 million of that overall iGaming revenue, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort ($41.27 million) and Rivers Casino Philadelphia ($31.3 million).

Big Uptick in Revenue Year-To-Year

PGCB also reported that fueled by a nearly 28% increase in iGaming revenue compared to the previous year, the combined gaming revenue for 2023 achieved a record high.

Gaming revenue for 2023 in the state was $1.74 billion ($1.36 billion in 2022), with total gaming revenue coming in at $5.69 billion.

PGCB said the resulting tax revenue of $2.34 billion generated in 2023 through the different forms of gaming was also a record, topping the $2.12 billion generated in 2022.

There are currently 21 licensed iGaming operators in Pennsylvania, which will drop to 20 once Unibet leaves this year. There are three others that are in some stage of moving forward, and Fanatics will be replacing PointsBet, with a go-live date set for any day now.
