Android mobile device users can now download the Android Package Kit app for Betly Sportsbook in the state of Arkansas. This enables people to use Betly to make wagers on an Android mobile device in the state.

No word on when the app will be available on Apple devices. Betly Sportsbook Went Live in Arkansas on March 5 through its partnership with Southland Racing. There was no mobile app available with the initial announcement.

It is unusual for an online sportsbook to only offer a mobile app for Android. But BallyBet Sportsbook in Arizona does it as well. Betly is working toward an app for iOS. Betly is also available in West Virginia.

In-Person Sports Betting Legal at Retail Locations in the State

In Arkansas, wagering on sports was legal before Betly came into the fold. In fact, the first retail outlet to accept in-person Arkansas sports betting was the Oaklawn Racing Resort, launching in July 2019.

Southland, owned by Delaware North, was the next facility to allow in-person wagers in September 2020. At Southland, patrons were able to use kiosks to bet, but as David Wolf, the president and general manager of the company, told Gambling.com, “The Betly online sportsbook will make it even easier for our patrons, all Arkansas residents, and visitors to the state to wager on their favorite teams.”

The Betly online sportsbook will allow the location to do additional renovations to its complex and hotel.

More Online Sportsbooks to Come?

Right now, three retail betting locations offer sports betting. Southland was the first to get up and running after the legislature deemed mobile wagering legal on March 4.

Carlton Saffa, the chief market officer at Saracen Resort, which started accepting in-person wagers in October 2020, told Gambling.com that their mobile app should be ready to go in time for March Madness and further noting that the launch would be a “full-featured” project.

Oaklawn general manager Wayne Smith told Gambling.com that patrons could expect their mobile app up and running between April and June.
