Las Vegas Casino Bettors Like Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Chargers In Wild Card Games
The largest percentage of bettors at the Las Vegas South Point casino favors the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers in this weekend’s NFL Wild Card playoffs.
Las Vegas bettors don’t seem to have as much faith in the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers this weekend, based on percentages the South Point Sportsbook provided to Gambling.com. The South Point hotel & casino is on the southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard, the highway leading to Southern California.
The NFL Wild Card winners will advance to the Divisional Rounds on Jan. 18-19, hoping to win a spot in Super Bowl 59 on Feb. 9 in New Orleans.
In general, teams from the West, including Los Angeles, generate a lot of interest at Nevada sportsbooks. Los Angeles is the closest large city to Las Vegas—about 4-5 hours by car. Two Los Angeles teams, the Chargers and Rams, are in the NFL playoffs this season.
California does not have legal sports betting, so bettors from there often head next door to Nevada to wager legally on sports, especially on major events like the Super Bowl. One of the closest big Nevada casinos for those coming into the Las Vegas area from California is South Point.
