Nevada Continues Revenue Climb In November, Despite Drop In Visitor Numbers

Nevada’s gaming industry posted generally positive results in November, with revenue across the state up 2.39%.

The increase came despite The Strip seeing a slight 0.56% decline compared to November last year.

This is impressive considering there has been a continued decline in state visitor numbers in recent months.

A Continued Decline In Tourism

Harry Reid International Airport, the central airport hub serving Vegas, reported a significant 9.6% decrease in domestic visitor numbers.

However, despite this, 2025 saw the second-highest November earnings on record, showing the state’s casinos continue to adapt to the ongoing decline in tourism.

2025 has been a challenging year for Las Vegas.

Although December’s figures have yet to be reported, January was the only month of 2025 when Harry Reid boasted an increase in visitor numbers, and even then, its numbers were only 0.4% higher than in 2024.

Since then, the airport has seen year-on-year declines every month.

November saw 3.96 million visitors land at Harry Reid, down 9.6% from 2024 and down from October’s 4.5 million domestic visitors.

October’s figures were down 7.8% compared to 2024. Considering August and September numbers were down around 6%, the numbers suggest things are only getting worse.

International visitors account for only slightly more than 1 in 10 visitors to Las Vegas, but considering overseas flights, the slump is even worse.

November’s international visitors were down 21.2% compared to the same period last year.

The longest government shutdown in history didn’t help the numbers, either. Fewer air traffic controllers were willing to work for the offered compensation, which resulted in reduced flight numbers.

The shutdown began on October 1 and lasted for 43 days, spanning approximately half of November.

However, experts have also pointed to increased costs, while overseas visitor numbers to the country as a whole have declined.

In terms of international visitors, Air Canada reported a 40% decline in November compared to 2024, with critics pointing to President Donald Trump’s contentious calls to make Canada the 51st state, which may have led to fewer people willing to make the trip.

In September, Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley said, “I’m telling everybody in Canada, please come. We love you, we need you, and we miss you.”

The Resilient Gaming Industry

However, despite the continued drop in visitors, Nevada’s gaming industry is adapting well.

Across the state, gaming win totaled $1.35 billion, according to a report from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, a 2.39% increase over the same period in 2024.

In terms of gaming revenue, Clark County posted a 2.04% gain to $1.2 billion, but it was The Boulder Strip that had the highest increase. Its $79.5 million revenue represented a 20% increase from 2024.

Downtown Las Vegas also performed well, posting $87.2m, up 10.32%. Laughlin posted an 11.61% increase ($38 million). Other areas to post gains included Washoe County (+6.39%), Reno (+7.1%), and Elko County (+5.29%).

The figures weren’t quite as positive for the Las Vegas Strip, however. Its revenue was $784.3 million, representing a 0.56% decrease compared to the 12 months prior.
