Sportradar is set to enter the Connecticut sports betting market, while also remaining in West Virginia.

The global sports technology company announced it has received an online gaming service provider license in Connecticut and renewed its sports wagering supplier license in West Virginia.

“Sportradar is committed to providing our clients the highest quality sports data and services,” Arne Rees, Sportradar U.S.CEO, said in a media release. “As sports betting legalization accelerates in the U.S., strong and transparent data will help govern the growing industry expansion in a sustainable and ethical manner. These licenses underscore Sportradar’s commitment to the US market, our leadership in integrity and the value of our products and services.”

Sportradar holds 20 licenses at the state and tribal levels in the U.S. It provides data and services to numerous clients within these jurisdictions while ensuring transparency, integrity and the most accurate sports data for state-operated sports wagering and gaming agencies.

Connecticut Sports Betting

Connecticut is the latest state to launch its mobile sports betting market. After a seven-day soft launch period, Connecticut’s online sports wagering market was open statewide on Oct. 19.

Players in the state have three options to place bets from their phone or other mobile devices.

DraftKings gained market access through its partnership with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, while FanDuel and the Mohegan Tribe agreed to terms to allow the well-known sportsbook to enter the state.

The Connect Lottery Corporation reviewed numerous applications before settling on Rush Street Interactive, which operates the Sugarhouse Sportsbook.

“This is an exciting moment for our state and our tribal partners,” Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement. “Connecticut has proven to be a leader when it comes to the gaming economy going back decades, and that legacy will continue with the launch of these new online options for all eligible residents.

West Virginia Sports Betting

West Virginia’s sports betting market has been around since August 2018.

For September, the state recorded a sports betting handle of $60 million, which was 168.8% higher than August’s $22.4 million. West Virginia’s boost in handle is attributed to the start of the NFL regular season and college football.

September was also a state record in terms of sports betting revenue for West Virginia, with $7.1 million reported in revenue, up 258.2% from August’s $2 million.

The previous record for sports betting revenue came in December 2020 when the state reported $6.5 million.
