Travis Kelce Odds: Star Expected To Retire And Pop The Question To Taylor Swift

The Kansas City Chiefs missed out on a historic three-peat after losing 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX.
Several players had nights to forget, including Travis Kelce, who made just four receptions in the game.
Travis' girlfriend, pop megastar Taylor Swift, was in attendance at New Orleans' Caesars Superdome, but she had to wait until the third quarter for her man to be found by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
It came after the Chiefs had won 19 out of 22 games with Swift watching on, including an incredible 9-0 playoff record, but the "Love Story" hitmaker couldn't inspire her boyfriend and his team to victory at Super Bowl LIX.
There was also a moment to forget for Swift when she was booed by the crowd while appearing on the Jumbotron, much to her shock.
She could be seen asking rapper Ice Spice: "What is going on?"
It wasn't exactly the Eras Tour crowd, but Super Bowl LIX could end an era for her significant other if he decides to hang up his cleats.
Following the Chiefs' heavy defeat, much speculation has been about what Kelce might do next.
Kelce Odds-On To Hang Up Cleats In 2025
Kelce said in 2023 that he considers retirement "more than anyone could ever imagine," but he didn't speak about hanging up his boots after Sunday's dismal performance.
However, he has now broken his post-Super Bowl LIX silence.
Speaking on his and former Eagles star brother Jason Kelce's podcast, "New Heights," Travis said: "I wasn't the best that I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool, and collected, and I put a lot of that on myself.
"As the guy that's been in the building for 12 years and seen a lot of football and seen a situation just like this, in the Super Bowl.
"It's a tough pill to swallow. It's a hard reality, man."
At one point, he said, "I'm sorry for how it ended," which appeared to be a nod to how the three-peat chances had failed.
But some have speculated it could even be a hint about his NFL career coming to a close.
It's thought Kelce has a so-called "soft deadline" for a potential retirement decision.
His $11.5 million roster bonus will kick in on March 15, so he will likely decide whether to continue with the Chiefs for a 13th NFL season. It is -125 on betting apps that Kelce announces his retirement this year.
Travis 'Still Has Love For The Game'
Following the Chiefs' loss to the Eagles, Mahomes even hinted it wouldn't be a huge surprise if Travis retires this year, admitting the tight end will "spend some time with his family and make that decision on his own."
He said: "He’s given so much to this team and to the NFL. He has a lot of football left in him. You can see it.
"He always makes plays in the biggest moments, but it’s if he wants to put in that grind.
"It’s a grind out there to go out there and play 20 games and get to the Super Bowl.
"He’s done enough to be a gold jacket guy and a first-ballot Hall of Famer. But I know he still has love for the game."
Travis' brother Jason announced his retirement in March 2024, a year after his Eagles had been beaten 38-35 by Travis' Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Travis Kelce Odds: When Will He Retire?
Year | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
2025 | -125 | 55.6% |
2026 | +150 | 40% |
2027 | +200 | 33.3% |
2028 or Later | +300 | 25% |
If Travis follows suit, he could give it one more season in the NFL to try to clinch another Super Bowl before hanging up his boots in 2026, regardless of whether the Chiefs win the Vince Lombardi Trophy next year or not.
It's +150 for Travis to quit the NFL next year and +200 that he calls it a day in 2027.
However, the star recently admitted he still wants to play football in three years.
Speaking on Super Bowl LIX Opening Night on Feb. 3, the star was asked where he would be in three years—and he replied: "Hopefully still playing football. I love doing this. I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still got a lot of good football left in me."
However, he said afterward: "We'll see what happens. I know I've been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life. That's always been the goal, knowing that football only lasts for so long."
It's +300 that Kelce hangs up his boots in 2028 or later, but what will he do when he does retire?
Kelce To Pop Swift Question
When Travis calls it a day, he can turn his attention to his lover and make a Swift proposal.
He is just -138 to propose to the "Bad Blood" hitmaker, whom he has been dating since September 2023.
Some Chiefs fans were desperate for Travis to ask for Swift's hand in marriage after the Super Bowl to overshadow the Eagles' victory.
Before this year's Super Bowl, Kelce was asked whether he was planning to get engaged during the Super Bowl, and he coyly replied: "Wouldn’t you like to know?"
That has only fuelled speculation that Tayvis—as they are affectionately known by their fans—could soon be getting hitched.
The singer could even get her boyfriend on board to collaborate on her next song.
