The New York Islanders begin a seven-game homestand in Elmont with hopes they will get a boost from home cooking and continue their recent rise in that standings to put them on the cusp of playoff contention.

Getting off to a winning start against the struggling Arizona Coyotes would be the perfect appetizer for a successful homestand and for New York sports betting.

How Islanders and Coyotes Have Fared Coming In

The Islanders will have an opportunity to climb above the NHL version of .500 for the first time since late November. They endured an 11-games losing streak in December and have rebounded of late, winning eight of their past 12 games.

Despite their horrid 10-24-4 record earning just 24 points, the Coyotes have won their past two games against the Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils. They are 5-3-2 over their past 10 games, averaging 3.6 goals per game.

For the first 30 games of the season, the Coyotes averaged 1.8 goals per game while getting just five wins.

Islanders and Coyotes Contrast in Goalies

The Islanders Ilya Sorokin has been sensational in the eight games he has played in goal, saving 233 of 249 shots for a 93.6% save percentage and has not allowed more than three goals in any of those eight starts.

Coyotes goalie Scott Wedgewood has saved 168 of 193 shots for a terrible 87% save percentage in six road games.

Over their past five matches, the Islanders have scored 14 goals — three were scored in the first period, four in the second, and five in the third period. This includes two overtime and empty-net goals.

Spanning their past five games, the Coyotes have allowed just 10 goals with three in the first, four in the second, and three third, including zero overtime goals and one empty netter.

How to Bet This Game

Betting on teams like the Islanders that lost their previous game to the current opponent has worked out well in specific situations. Teams that were shut out in their previous matchup and are coming off a road blowout win are 10-4, making $650 for the $100 per match better spanning the last three seasons.

The Islanders are also supported by many of the situations in this matchup. They are 24-7 using the moneyline and making $1,600 for the $100 bettor when facing a losing record team in the first 41 games of the season spanning the last two seasons.

Adding more enthusiasm to bet the Islanders is the fact that they are 18-1 using the moneyline and the puck line when facing a team that has won fewer than 40% of their matches spanning the last two seasons.

Last, they are a solid 30-11 using the money line in all home games spanning the last two seasons.
