Frankly, it’s not the best day for the best NRFI bets today. There are plenty of mediocre hurlers ready to take the mound, so we are backing YRFI in the Braves vs. Nationals prediction. Patrick Corbin will be on the bump for the Nats, and the Braves know him very well. 

The current Braves are 73-for-221 with 13 extra-base hits, 10 home runs, and 42 RBI against Corbin, who’s 10-13 with a pedestrian 5.00 ERA and 1.47 WHIP this season. Corbin allows an OPS north of .820 to the top five spots in the opposing lineup, and the Braves could easily get to him early. Atlanta leads the majors in first-inning runs scored per game (0.90). 

The two-hole holds a .923 OPS versus Corbin, and that’s the spot for Ozzie Albies, who’s 13-for-30 with three dingers and 12 RBI against the Nationals southpaw. Albies went 4-for-6 with a home run and four RBI last night, as Atlanta trounced Washington 10-3. The Braves leadoff hitter Ronald Acuna Jr. is 9-for-32 against Corbin, while Austin Riley, who’ll probably be in the three-hole, has gone 8-for-28 with two homers versus Corbin thus far.

⭐ Houston Astros -1.5 (-103) at DraftKings

The Astros are topping the AL West at the moment, but both Texas and Seattle are just half a game behind Houston. The Mariners and Rangers lock horns tonight, so the Astros have a nice opportunity to make some ground on one of their divisional rivals.  

Framber Valdez will get the nod for the Astros, while the Royals will counter with Cole Ragans. Last Sunday, Valdez pitched seven scoreless innings in a 7-1 road victory over Kansas City, and Ragans yielded five earned runs across six frames of work in Saturday’s 10-8 loss to the Astros. 

Ragans scattered six hits and issued two walks last Saturday. He’ll have a tall task to keep the Astros quiet tonight. Houston’s lineup is 15-for-60 with three round-trippers and 11 RBI against him. On the other side, the current Royals are 10-for-35 with no homers and just two RBI against Valdez, who’s registered a shiny 1.59 ERA over his last five starts and 34 innings pitched. Give me the Astros to beat the runline (-103) at DraftKings.

⭐ Juan Soto over 1.5 bases (-120) at FanDuel

The Padres are playing their best baseball of the season, riding a seven-game winning streak. They’ve won three straight series and will look to keep the good times rolling when the Cardinals come to town. St. Louis will send Dakota Hudson to the mound tonight, and the 29-year-old right-hander has surrendered a staggering 15 earned runs on 20 hits and nine walks over his last three outings and 14.1 innings of work. 

I’m expecting another tough day in the office for Hudson, so my best MLB player prop for Friday night would be Juan Soto Over 1.5 Bases (-120) at FanDuel. Soto has been outstanding so far this month, slashing .308/.418/.677 with three doubles and seven home runs in 65 at-bats. He’s recorded two or more bases in seven straight outings. Soto is 1-for-4 with a double and five walks in nine plate appearances versus Hudson.
