New York Knicks, Orlando Magic Advance To NBA Cup Showdown In Las Vegas

The New York Knicks and Orlando Magic won Emirates NBA Cup quarterfinal games on Tuesday, advancing to a semifinal head-to-head Eastern Conference matchup on Saturday in Las Vegas.
The winner of Saturday's Knicks-Magic contest plays in the NBA Cup championship game on Tuesday, Dec. 16, in Las Vegas against the eventual West winner.
In Toronto on Tuesday, the Knicks, led by 6-foot-2 guard Jalen Brunson's 35 points, upended the Raptors, 117-101.
Also on Tuesday, while playing without their leading scorer, forward Franz Wagner, the Magic overcame a 15-point first-half deficit to defeat the Miami Heat, 117-108. Orlando's win at home over its in-state rival was powered by a 37-point performance from 6-foot-6 guard Desmond Bane. Wagner is recovering from an ankle sprain that could keep him sidelined for several more games.
Battle For the West
In a West quarterfinal game on Wednesday, Dec. 10, the San Antonio Spurs visit Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles to face the Lakers.
Also in a West quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday, the visiting Phoenix Suns play the defending NBA-champion Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center in OKC. The West quarterfinal winners face each other on Saturday in Las Vegas for the right to advance to the championship game on Dec. 16 against either New York or Orlando from the East.
The NBA Cup is a league tournament that takes place during the regular NBA season. Each player on the NBA Cup championship team receives more than $500,000.
The NBA Cup now is in its third year. The Lakers won the first NBA Cup. The Milwaukee Bucks won it the second year.
Meanwhile, the 2025-26 regular season’s NBA Finals are set to begin in early June 2026 and conclude later that month.
