Online sports betting in Louisiana is set to go live soon. Many Bayou State gamblers are excited about the prospect of wagering online. Anybody who likes online casinos too, though, may be wondering if gaming sites will also be available in Louisiana. You can find out below while also learning more on when LA online sportsbooks will officially become available.

Will Louisiana Legalize Online Casinos?

Pelican State lawmakers were strictly concerned with regulating sports betting in Louisiana in 2021. They accomplished this goal when Gov. John Bel Edwards added his signature in June 2021. However, online gaming wasn’t on the agenda last year.

Louisiana online casinos aren’t on the itinerary for 2022 either. We probably won’t see internet casinos in the Bayou State for at least another year. Politicians will wait to see how LA betting sites perform before rushing to legalize another form of internet gambling.

Why Haven’t Louisiana Online Sportsbooks Launched Yet?

Following Edwards’ signature last June, Louisiana sportsbooks needed only a few months to launch retail locations. The Caesars LA Sportsbook was up and running inside of Harrah’s New Orleans relatively quickly. That said, you might expect LA betting apps to be available already.

Online sports betting in Louisiana was supposed to launch in November 2021. This date, however, got pushed back to sometime in January 2021. LA betting sites could’ve been accepting Super Bowl bets in this case. The goalposts have been moved again, though, because licenses are still being issued.

The Louisiana State Police has the task of reviewing applicants and issuing licenses. They’re unwilling to provide a concrete date on when they’ll be finished. As it stands now, the official online launch date for Louisiana sportsbooks is still up in the air. Once the licensing process is over, the market will be ready to go live.

What to Expect when Louisiana Sports Betting Goes Live?

Retail operators are currently the only sports betting Louisiana options. However, LA betting apps could be here sooner than later. Again, the only holdup is the unfinished licensing process.

Louisiana has already drawn major sports betting brands, such as the DraftKings LA Sportsbook. It just needs the green light from regulators to begin accepting wagers.

The Pelican State didn't previously offer any forms of regulated online gambling. Its residents and visitors are excited about legal online sports betting in Louisiana.

One look at other states suggests that LA bettors will have access to many bonuses and promotions. In fact, some sportsbooks are already offering impressive pre-launch deals. BetMGM sportsbook Louisiana, for example, will give $200 in free bets to gamblers who register now and use code “GAMBLINGCOM.”

Louisiana has a notable population with 4.65 million. It also has one of America’s biggest urban centers in New Orleans. That said, operators will do their best to provide all of these people with many markets and bet types.

As for online casinos, the wait could be a while. LA betting sites still need to get off the ground before anybody starts thinking about internet gaming.
