It's MLS Cup conference finals weekend as the Western Conference's Los Angeles FC and Austin clash in California, while in the Eastern Conference, New York City heads to Philadelphia to play the Union.

The Cup final will come next weekend, but for now, here are our MLS betting picks for the conference finals. We'll start with our prop picks, then on to the two games.

Game Picks

New York City at Philadelphia Union

According to the sportsbooks’ odds, this battle is tougher than Austin-Los Angeles We don't necessarily agree.

Twelve points separated these teams in the Eastern Conference, as Philadelphia won three more games than New York. It also lost just five games and scored the most goals in the regular season, with 72.

The Union also conceded just 26 goals, the best defensive record in MLS history across a 34-game season. Soccer history tells us this is a good sign a team will win a title.

New York is the defending MLS Cup champion, and its confidence has grown week by week in the past two months. Only the LA Galaxy, in 2011 and 2012, and Houston Dynamo, in 2006 and 2007, have won the MLS Cup in consecutive seasons.

Last time out, New York stunned Montreal in the semifinals by going 3-0 up inside 61 minutes of the game. Montreal managed eight shots on target but was outclassed by a clinical New York team.

If New York can get past Philadelphia, it has a good chance to go all the way. However, we expect Philadelphia to win here and play Los Angeles in the final.

Philadelphia Union to win 2-0 against New York is +650 with DraftKings.

Austin at Los Angeles FC

Many predicted this matchup weeks ago. LAFC won the most games in the MLS, with 21, but also nine defeats. It reached this stage courtesy of a Cristian Arango goal against the LA Galaxy in the 93d minute.

Austin will be analyzing its earlier 4-1 victory against LAFC ahead of the game. In that matchup, Diego Fagúndez and Sebastián Driussi each scored a goal, while Max Urrti netted two.

Factoring in the semifinal win over Texas rival FC Dallas, Austin has been quite comfortable facing the top seven teams in the MLS. We’re backing an LAFC win, as it is simply the better team.

LAFC to beat Austin 2-1 is +700 with FanDuel.
